About this product

Product Information

Barbra Streisand's adaptation of Pat Conroy's lyrical, passionate novel concerns romance as it emerges from the ashes of a traumatic childhood. Southerner Tom Wingo is going through a midlife crisis: He's got no job, a disintegrating marriage, and a drinking problem. But he gets a jolt of reality when he hears that his sister has attempted suicide. Tom instantly heads to New York to meet Susan Lowenstein, his sister's psychiatrist. As Tom provides Susan with information about his sibling and their dysfunctional family, the two become more intimate and soon begin an affair. As the romance blossoms, the repressed Tom and the guarded Susan find they are able to help each other with their respective problems. In particular, Tom is finally able to discuss a devastating incident from his youth. A tearjerker in the best sense of the term, THE PRINCE OF TIDES-- featuring outstanding performances from the Oscar-nominated Nick Nolte and director Streisand--offers a cathartic release and somewhat bittersweet ending that is a truly satisfying cinematic experience.

Seller provided a genuine game as photographed, packaged the item very securely, and got the item shipped to me quickly and safely! Awesome price for an extremely high quality used game, and easy return process for my silly mistake of ordering the wrong Motorstorm!! I would happily do business with the seller again, and sorry I had to send back such a carefully packaged and kept item.

  • Estes Park VHS

Very disappointed in this video. It didn't even include the Big Thompson. It was more about activities that take place in Estes each year rather than the scenery or motels/hotels. Only snippets of Trail Ridge Road and Fall River Road. It didn't capture the true beauty of the place.

  • Not much of a prince movie

"Prince of Tides" started out so bad that I couldn't get past the 1st 15 minutes and turned it off -- it took me a few year to get around to watching this movie again. Too bad since I really liked the actors (huge Barbra fan!!) - just didn't care for the story and the director's vision of it even though Barbra reputedly is quite proud of this particular film. This 1992 NTSC VHS film was a little to grainy and the audio just wasn't up to standards (possibly a manufacturing defect) but the DVD cleaned-up version is probably the one that needs to be seen for maximum enjoyment.

  • Nolte At His Peak,Streisand In Love

This movie of Pat Conroy's novel is entertaining and catches Nick Nolte at his acting peak, before drugs and alcohol got hold of him.His and Streisand's starcrossed affair is heart wrenching and sure to be a real tear jerker for the ultimate chick flick.Guys, buy this for your gals.It will be a winner. The part of Barbra's son is played by her RL son,Jason Gould. They don't make love stories like this anymore.

  • Prince of Tides,Great title

this is a great love story....actors were perfect for their parts an all time favorite. I bought it because it was my sisters favorite movie, now that she's gone it brings her closer to me. There is nothing to dislike about the movie. It's sad, funny, discusting them funny again with a said ending.
