Ok it isn’t cheap, but worth every penny! Quality costs! Whether you want to take advantage of its advanced features (many of which I have yet to play about with) or just use the basic features such as checking the tolerances of passive components, it is an extremely clever and well-designed unit

Not any better than cheap Chinese unlike the DCA55 which is total crap and much worse. I have 5 Peak meters now (DCA55, DCA75, ESR70, ZEN50 and this LCR45) because I want to support British Made but they aren't doing much to warrant such support. Lift your game Peak; If the current offering is the best you can do then you better look for a new market 'cause I, for one, won't be buying another.

It does what it says -- it measures complex impedance at three different frequencies, and converts to pure inductance / capacitance plus effective series resistance (or displays the complex impedance raw). Neat, and a lot more useful and accurate than the £20 digital LCR meters which can struggle to tell their Ls from their Cs. Ideally I'd like more than two buttons, but it is pretty minor gripe. I'm very happy with something designed and made in Britain, and at a price within the range I'd expect Fluke to charge for anything similar.

The reason I bought this product is because it can test a wirewound resistor and not only get the resistance reading but also the inductance reading. This is important when working on rf circuits. The manual shows many ways of determing capacitance and the Xc when subjected to various frequencies. It does what it says and the readings are accurate.

These meters are great provided you pay attention to the optimum ranges shown in the manual. For example, the minimum inductor value for reasonable accuracy is 10uH, even though you can measure smaller values. Highly recommended provided you read the manual.

I have found it good for checking components in old valve equipment were component markings are illegible.

It is a great device and I love it. It may be a bit pricey but it does what it says.
