I had a 10 hour hard disc sony and wanted longer recording time. I use them mainly for security, looking down on the street and my vehicle, so 15 hours is a useful time, 10 hours was a little short. Only problem with this handicam is that it has no night setting, so not that useful for then. A big improvement over my 10 hour camera is that this one uses usb straight to the pc, the other I had to use the silly base unit. Worth getting, especially at today's used prices of £60 or so.

Like all Sony - this camcorder is very good. Only thing short battery life - but when I have got more MAh battery it become very good. Pictures quality is poor about may be 3-4 mega pixel but for camcorder it is probably normal. Easy to use touch screen. Powerful zoom really can help to see what eye can not catch. Storage enough big for long filming. For this price - excellent device! Val.
It is a very good camera as I had a similar one which I sadly lost recently. But I am a bit puzzled by the 60GB HD specified as giving me 13 hours filming space. But the exact model of the camera which I recently sadly lost had 40GB HD was specified as allowing 11hours+ filming space. There does not appear much appreciable difference between 40GB and 60GB.In my wiew there ought to be a marked difference. The camera itself apart from showing the model only specifies" 60x optical Zoom" and nothing about the HD capacity.

looked extensively on other sites for the best deal. I am really happy with the price. compared others and the nearest was almost double to what the ebay seller was asking. liked too the accessory of battery power that can be used with the camera, up to 10 hours.does away with having to use a power point. had a canon mini disc cam before, but batteries would only last just over an hour.have had a few cameras before but this is the best i have experienced
A good little camcorder but seriously hindered by its lack of a viewfinder making it very difficult to use on a sunny day.

Sony DCR-SR37E camcorder has serious flaws: 1. The microphone is located on the top of the cam s body instead of on the front facing into the direction the camera is filming. It is right next to the fingers -- all finger movements on the camera become audible on the recording. 2. The Hard Disk is a bad choice -- all disk s noise -- clicking, humming, etc. -- is very noticeable on the audio recording. This would not be a problem with a memory card camcorder model only, which records silently. WIth the HD, one needs extra cables to download or transfer the recording. Better is a cam with only a momory card which could be easily transferred to any computer, etc., or hooked up through a USB port and a card reader. 3. The 60x optical zoom is useless -- could not hold steady in hand, and the picture quality on such a distance is very bad -- too much nois. The cam is lacking an optical shaking stabilizator -- a must for such a zoom. 4. The picture quality per se is very low. Lacking sharpness overall. The AF is too slow, and the picture in low light is bad -- does not go to 0 lux, only to 6, which is not enough. 5. Lack a pad to hook up an external light and a camera remote starter through a baloon or similar device. 6. The operational menu is ridiculous to navigate, and the cam lacks some important basic features. 7. The lens is not "wide" enough, for example, to get an entire person into the screen while in an ordinary room -- to get an adult into the picture, I had to go some 7 meters away, which is too far and a space usually not available in an ordinary home. 8. The operating buttons are at wrong spots -- the holding of the camera seems unnatural, the right hand is in a spasm-like position, the button to switch between the cam and the still camera could not be pressed with the right hand s fingers, and, instead, one must use the left hand by crossing it in front of ones face -- an action requiring to stop and move the camera. A person with thicker fingers will not be able to press that button at all -- too small and shallow. 9. While the cam could recharge the battery when hooked up to it, the cam could not operate while recharging -- the recharging ability thus could not be used while filming, and one needs another charger, unless charging the batteries before hand. However, the battery lasts about 1-1,5 hour at the most. And so on. I would not buy this camcorder or any similar one ever again, and am happy I got rid of it (in part, because the seller did not provide all the accessories which were supposed to come with it), and do not recommend anyone to buy it no matter the price. It is better to spend more money on a highers quality cam.Read full review
overall a good buy, it produces excellent pictures with good quality sound, initially I found it easy to use and got great results. the one downside is the fact that you cannot see what you are trying to shoot when the weather is anything but grey outside. The view finder is overpowered when there is any brightness at all, making the sighting of the picture guesswork, you can still get good pictures but it needs an eye level view finder to make this an excellent camcorder.
