Call me biased if you like, but I have always had a soft spot for GER locos, stock, stations and other railway infrastructure. But RTR GER and ex-GER stock has been very thin on the ground until recently. This addition to Hornby's range is as near perfect as any RTR 'OO' scale loco is ever likely to be. It can haul more weight than I ever saw a real one do, goes much faster than it's 'big brother' ever did (but why be in a hurry?) and runs smoothly straight from the box even at realistic speeds, and cosmetically it is beyond reproach,so it almost looks cute enough to stroke! Its introduction has encouraged a veritable rash of GER and BR(ex-GER) layouts - and mine will, I hope, join them in due course. Every 'East Enders' fan and 'Tractor Boy' should have one. Or two. Whether your models look more like Bishopsgate or Takely, this little beauty will look right at home.Read full review

This is an astounding model, it is very responsive, the detail is superb. It runs very quietly and no matter how slow you want it to run it does so without any hesitation. It is a great addition to any model railway no matter what era is chosen.
