Lightweight, many channels, easy recharge, good battery life, range is meh. Much more useful than I'd expected.

These two-way radios are way handier than I had expected. I'm finding that I'm using them during road trips to keep contact between vehicles rather than taking the time to make phone calls when we decide to stop etc. That and when working a little ways away from each other. It's much more convenient to just pick up, push a button, and talk than call and wait for them to answer. Also, you don't need to have cell reception to talk. This product specifically is very easy to use; recharges with a normal phone charger (I think they're called micro USB), are lightweight, and seem to be fairly durable. They are clear, have plenty of channels, and good range of volume. The downside is the range. While I've used them 4 miles away on the highway (haven't experimented max distance there), in very hilly terrain (think mountain), sometimes one mile is pushing it.

use for traveling? not so much!

They were easy to setup. Instructions were clear enough. I bought a two pack to travel with two cars on the interstate, to maintain contact as we traveled. One unit worked well, the second unit batteries died within an hour after starting (without being used) replaced with regular batteries. Contact between vehicles was at best marginal even when within less than a half mile. Tried several different channels with same results. Seemed to change when position of cars was reversed but not by much. I would NOT recommend these units for traveling, might work for walking around a swap meet.

  • Cobra used to be a quality product. Thes...

Cobra used to be a quality product. These walkie talkies are pretty worthless. Batteries were shot from the get go, and finally with new batteries they would send a signal but was weak and unintelligible. Even by playing with different channels, adjusting the squelch and volume there was not much improvement.

  • It's a good buy for close range communication

It's light weight and easy to use. Good for close range. I tried to go long range but your receiving signal is no greater than 1 mile at most.

  • Good Product

These radios work for all short distance needs. Have not fully tested max range. Lightweight, durable and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • Non functioning

In the first place they arrived with rechargeable batteries and wire but no charger. I fished through my junk and found one that worked. The first day I drove about one block away and couldn't reach my house. OK we wanted them for room to room. Fully charged when they got through, the sound was full of noise and distorted. Is this enough?

  • Better than I thought

It is did what was stated. However, the description missed some important "good" facts" like it can be USB Charge. Therefore, a solar power battery pack can be used to recharge it. It was intuitive to use after watching any "walkie talkie" video from any manufacture. It appears to have only a head phone 2.5 mm set and is not compatible with the much larger 3.5mm jack. I watch the Bofang UV5 on how to program up a motorola off self walkie talkie.

  • Very easy to use and very reliable

Exactly what we needed for hiking, clear, we're not to far apart, maybe a few hundred yards and the strength is good. We enjoy the charging capabilities, this is one of the reasons we also purchased them.

  • Cobra walkie talkies

Impressed that there is no feedback even when very close together. Made of a lighter weight plastic casing hopefully it will prove to all be durable.

  • Cheap but solid!

I have to say, these are clearly low end quality but they work very well! The signal is clear and range is solid. Easily worth the money. Use for camping, boating, hiking etc.
