    Overall, a good value

I've been using Polar heart rate monitors for many years. What I like about the FT7 is: Good value, ability to pause while recording, storage for 99 training files, gives you max and average heart rate, time in fat burning and cardio zones, calories burned, ability to set your own max hr and change the batteries in the watch and transmitter. What I don't like: the "beep" used for the alarm and going over your max heart rate is so quiet that it makes those features useless. The same goes for the flashing of your HR on the watch in alarm. It's barely noticeable. If you can live without the alarm features it's a good value for a decent heart rate monitor.

Nice Parts but they don't always work together

I really like the FT7 and the elastic chest strap of the H1. The watch is very simple to use and the strap is comfortable. The problem is that it doesn't always track your heart rate. I find myself having to constantly check it to make sure that it's not at 0 0 and that it's actually picking up my heart rate from the transmitter. I've changed batteries and both parts and still I have problems sometimes I don't know if it's particular machines at the gym that cause interference more or if it's something between the two parts themselves. All-in-all I guess I would opt for a newer, better model. I marked it is a good value because of the price I paid for it on eBay. I paid under $50 for the entire set. I wouldn't pay more than that knowing what I know now. I marked it as a good quality simply because the watch is very nice and also simple to use plus the strap is incredibly comfortable. However it seems when you pair them together they don't always work.

  • Heart transplant survivor

I need an accurate monitor to help keep track of heart rate while exercising & lifting. My vagus nerve was severed, so don’t have the usual brain/heart feedback loop. This fit the bill perfectly. After starting the HR is always on, large numerals, and easy to read. After replacing the battery the first week, it has functioned perfectly! Good, basic, no-frills unit, without all the “fitness tracking” features that I rarely use.

  • I love the FT7

I wish the polar FT7 watches were a sized wristband width in between the men's and woman's width; I want more men's color options. To my knowledge the colorful ones have a narrower strap. Don't rely on any watch giving accurate calorie counts. I have 3 RT7's and an FT80 that give different calories results tested head to head. In think the FT7 gives about a 40% higher reading than my FT80.

  • Buy it!

I bought this watch and heart monitor for my hubby for our 42nd anniversary, last week. He bought me one 5 years ago and wished he had one too, since his Fitbit bit the dust a couple of years ago. So I bought him one. He absolutely loves the Polar FT7, he gets an accurate readout continuously, not like the Fitbit, and can see the dial. It's a comfortable chest strap and sometimes he wears it all day. When we bike ride we shout out heart rates as we ride to compare where we are at. It really is fun with both of us wearing one and tracking how we are doing and, so we don't go over our max heart rate.

  • Great value for a basic HRM!

I like the Polar FT7 because it is a reliable, reasonably priced HRM that works well either cycling or running. I am old school and don't need GPS or upload features that are so heavily marketed but rarely used. The FT7 serves primarily as my guide to keep my aerobic efforts (zone 2) and recovery efforts (zone 1) in the correct range. I don't want to spend lots of money to do that! Important bonus: I can change the battery myself!

  • GREAT HRM

My POLAR F4 finally quit on me after years of great feedback. Is been on the fence as to which one to get. I made the mistake of getting a FITBIT thinking I could wear it all day. The POLAR F7 is great and I LOVE it! I still use the Fitbit but just as a pedometer. I don't really trust the accuracy as much as my POLAR. The strap is different than the F4a little. POLAR is a great brand and I'm glad I got this.

  • Excellent Heart Rate Monitor

This was a replacement for one that I wore for many years while exercising. The old one alerted me of major changes in my heart rate, that I did not feel. As the results of this alert, I had a stress test and stent surgery scheduled, but it ended in a quadruple bypass heart surgery, which saved my life. Again, I felt no warning or discomfort from these rapid heart rate changes and I did not have a heart attack. This type of monitor, without a doubt, saved my life.

  • Polar FT 7

Overall good unit. Right now if compare to new units feels dated and restricted. Display white on black could be hard to read. Not tracking steps.
