        The Rock by L J Ross, a murder mystery, DCI Ryan is charismatic and his side kick Frank adds a bit of north east humour

        I'm an enormous fan of L J Ross, her books are based around the North of England . If you are an avid reader and find the price of new books digs into your budget, pre loved books from eBay are ideal, and the product looked brand new.

        Sugary sweet for a crime novel.

        Crime story is OK, was interested in settings in Northumberland, but far too much of concentration on Ryan & his staff's private life, philosophy, idealisms etc which is far too sugary sweet and really detracts from story & pace of crime. Other Ryan books are just the same. Would not read any others.

        Great story. LJ Ross is a great story teller. This book is a totally new character and location but no less compelling. Looking forward to her next book.

        fair , wasn't very inviting but I thought it was worth investigating to see if I was wrong , I wasn't !! .

        The story is not to my taste I felt very uncomfortable reading it at the start , I very quickly ,stopped reading it , I went to the last pages and my first impression didn't change , she is an amazing writer but this book was not for me .
