About this product

Product Information

Buffy the Vampire Slayer returns to Xbox in a game written by comic book authors and novelists Christopher Golden and Tom Sniegoski. Played from a third-person perspective, the title emphasizes hand-to-hand combat against a variety of vampires and demonic entities. Being the resourceful lass that she is, Buffy can stake her foes using whatever means are at her disposal, from chairs found at the Magic Box to shovels at the local graveyard. The storyline takes place around the time period of the fifth season, which means Spike is now an unofficial member of the Scoobie Gang and Willow is well on her way to becoming a full-fledged witch.

Things take a turn for the worse when Sunnydale undergoes a temporal shift, thanks to the dabbling of one mischievous Ethan Rayne, causing an instability between time and space. Ethan has awoken the primordial evil known as The First, and now Buffy and the gang must find a way to prevent the world from plunging into chaos. Not only will players fend off werewolves, vampires, and zombies while trying to prevent the next apocalypse, but also villains like Adam and Kakistos. Players will battle through such familiar locales as The Magic Box, Initiative Base, Sunnydale Hospital, and downtown Sunnydale through 12 levels of action.

Players will experience levels as Buffy, Willow, Xander, Faith, Spike, and even Sid the Dummy, a character first introduced during the television show's first season. Each character possesses distinct abilities and attributes, such as Willow's power to cast spells, as the gang begins the daunting task of cleaning up Sunnydale's tainted streets. Rather than choosing different characters at the beginning of each stage, players will have to follow each level's storyline using whichever character the game requires of them at any given time.

Chaos Bleeds also includes support for up to four players. Multiplayer game types include Survival, Bunny Catcher, Slayer Challenge, and Domination. Survival is a deathmatch variant, with various pick-ups available that can help or hinder characters. Bunny Catcher is a race to collect as many bunnies as possible, with different colored rabbits worth a varying amount of points. Slayer Challenge has a character summoning vampires and then trying to dust them, with the other players controlling the enemies. Domination, however, has characters vying for control over magical pentagrams.

  • CHAOS BLEEDS is Great!

Chaos Bleeds,The sequel to the original Buffy game that was released for Xbox. A nice beat em up, but it was significantly a shorter story mode than the previous game. Slight improvements, compared to the original game. There is the privilege of using characters other than Buffy and the new multiplayer is enjoyable compared to the single player unlockable mode in the previous game. The run animation of Buffy didn't quite match in this sequel, it felt slowed. In the previous Buffy game (developed by EA) Buffy felt a lot more badass, even when she ran...she was a lot more versatile in movement. In Chaos Bleed (developed by Vivendi) this Buffy felt a little more laid back...and sort of played like a team-player rather than a lone wolf in battle. Nevertheless, some mechanics were retained. Some of Buffy's power moves are not as proudly executed as they were in the previous game. Buffy's hilarious incendiary remarks--especially when you try to open a locked door --is retained and is echoed by her allies as well in this installment. Overall it is a great game I just wish it was longer. PROS: * The game offers the unique opportunity to play as other characters as you progress in the game * Multiplayer fun *Hilarious sarcasm entertains the player *Slight graphic improvement *You can use Willow in this game and her powers *Finding secrets in the game unlocks in-game bonuses & behind the scenes etc. *If you're a fan of Buffy this second game won't disappoint. *You can view pictures of the cast of the series. CONS: - The story mode was too short - This installment was great but it lacked challenge to a degree. - some mechanics from the previous game is missing, Buffy's move set was more powerful in the previous game - In the previous game finding secrets rewarded you with slayer power and health WHY?: ? In this installment you use medi-packs to recover your health, in the previous game used a health elixir. You also had the opportunity of combining your holy water into a more powerful health elixir. Removing this feature is a real let down. ? In the previous game you were able to combine almost everything, in this game you are limited to combining stakes only. (In previous game you could combine hellfire potion with arrow to create flame arrows, holy water to make blessed arrows etc.) ? Finding secrets doesn't reward you with health nor power in Chaos Bleeds. I miss collecting the crystals and going to Willow for an upgrade in the previous game...you were stronger in the original Buffy.
