    Good product, lacking apps.

I feel like this is good value and the open box, that arrived like brand new, comes with full Channel Master warranty and support. These are not refurbs and have never been defective or in need of repair. Unfortunately, months into service there is still no Amazon Prime Video app or Netflix, though CM has requested both. The box is superior to the Mi Box, if you can be patient while Netflix approves an app. There are ways to install apps on your own, as with all Android TV boxes.

The Previous Model Was Much Better

Having the remote RF is nice. However this unit is missing so many of the functions that the former model had. (CM 7500) Here are some excerpts from an email I sent to Channel Master's customer service complaining about the product: WiFi was not connected even though it said it was. After 4 hours of trying this, that and the other thing, numerous lock ups and freezes, rebooting, re-scanning, AND going through the 49+ trouble shooting steps, the unit (to my amazement) suddenly decides to display 2 weeks of program information. Seriously? Also, an aspect ratio setting was found deep within, item number 3 is corrected. Items number 1, 4, and 5 are still seriously annoying me, let us add to it number 6 and 7, the annoyance of NO slo-motion fwd or back, and (to further aggravate) whenever I pause, it dims the picture and throws up a big blue banner, a menu with FF. REW. Pause, etc. right on top of the programs picture. While paused, the info button will not remove the sinister thing either. How stupid! How am I supposed to review for example a football play when it covers up that which I am trying to see? This thing was costly enough, I would certainly expect more than what this product seems to be offering. And it should offer whole lot less aggravation! What was wrong with the model 7500 that you quit making it? It was a really good product alongside this thing. You need to bring back the engineer that designed the 7500, and fire the person that designed the 7600. Perhaps there is firmware revision you could send out for the 7600 to make it more user friendly product? It is not nice! If I could say one thing positive about it, the RF remote control is rather nice to use. And so it goes for the CM-7600 DVR. I can see now why the old model is selling for more than $250. used on eBay. People like the CM-7500. I don't care for the CM-7600. The Potpourri simmer pot shaped thing runs quite warm too. I wonder how long before it cooks itself? Bring back the CM-7500.

  • Works great for my needs!

If your looking for inexpensive DVR for an OTA antenna and a free TV guide that goes 14 days out this is a good option. Hdmi output, Ethernet connection, dual tuner and usb 3.0 port for external drive provides smooth DVR playback. I like that the remote is Bluetooth so I can hide the unit behind me TV. Downside for some reason Netflix and other we’ll know apps not available. I use roku for steaming apps so it wasn’t a concern for me. If your looking for an all in one streaming, ota TV guide and DVR this might not be the perfect solution for you. I heard some people with some work were able to add the apps like Netflix but it isn’t out of the box easy. Depending on your needs this device is pretty good for the price but like most ota dvr devices nothing’s 100% perfect.

  • Gone down hill instead of improving

They made changes to the Channel Master that don't work as well as the old unit, like the 30 second fast forward. that was a handy feature. Being able to watch the recording while it is recording was s great feature. Also the Google content is to full of expensive programming, and for the most it not worth watching.

  • Channel Master 7600

It’s fairly easier to use than most other devices of this type, once you get past the difficult set up. The basic directions just tell you how to hook up the cables, hardly any information on how to get through the guided set up, and there’s very little information on how to work the device in the manual. Basically have to hit each button and try to remember what each does, it’s a learning process.

  • Not as good as DVR PLUS+ unit that this company used to sell.

Product does stream apps and record. Channel guide only goes 2 days into the future, recording length does not allow for adjusting time longer for sports in case of overtime games. If left on for a long time unit tends to lockup and needs to have power disconnected and hooked up again to get it to reset. After having a DVR + unit from the same company, which worked great and had a much better channel guide and recording options, this unit is a bit of a disappointment.

  • So far Very Happy!

So far very happy with it. It does what I needed. Android interface is nice and doesn't look old. Quite responsive. Has recorded all the shows I have requested. Make sure you have a .5 or 1 ter bit external DISK drive. I tried a SS drive but didn't work, but I also didn't do a full format just a quick one, not sure if that was the issue. I was able to connect the remote to my TV for power and audio. I have a splitter on my coaxial cable so it goes into the Channel Master and my TV, so its almost like having three tuners as I can record two shows on the Channel Master and watch a third on my TV. There are no video quality settings that i wish there was. The recorder video quality is the same but there seems to be more blurring in motion than watching it live. Not a deal breaker but a little disappointed. My only worry is about updates as they don't seem to sell these new anymore. If you have cut the cord like I have and don't have a any or good streaming service, I highly recommend this. I can finally record all OTA TV shows. FYI this will not record streaming services.

  • Not compatible with every TV

I have other Channel Master devices, Smartenna and a Linux based DVR+. I was replacing the DVR+ with this Android media player on 40” Samsung TV. This device would not connect to that 40” TV. It would however, connect to a 32” Samsung TV. Samsung says the compatibility issue is with the device and Channel Master says it’s a TV issue. After numerous emails and calls to both there is no solution. The Stream+ was easy to set up and use but it gets three stars because of the compatibility issue. Be warned it might not work with your TV and nobody will be able to help.

  • Poor replacement for the DVR+

Lacks basic recording features of the DVR+. No manual recording. No lead or extend time adjustment. No "new only" series choice. No quick jump forward or back through recordings. As an OTA DVR it is very limited. It is an Android TV box with OTA recording added as an afterthought. I do not recommend the Stream+ to anyone who is looking for an proper OTA DVR.

  • Very satisfied with unit!

Does the main thing that my new 2019 Vizio 4k tv doesn't---provide a CHANNEL GUIDE, and a two week version! Picture and sound appears the same; still learning the remote. Have a USB drive on order to try out the recording feature. Bought a refurb CM-7600 model directly from CM, and it looks new. Money saved on refurb payed for the USB drive. Connected an ethernet cable, and it downloaded channel guide extremely fast. Sure beats those satellite/cable folks; no monthly fees, and a great OTA picture.
