Product Information

Like its predecessors, the PMD670 is a rugged and reliable portable recorder specifically designed for applications like meeting recording, voice dictation, high quality sound gathering and everything in between. The PMD670 includes a built-in microphone, built-in speaker, and professional mic/line inputs and outputs. You can record many hours of quality stereo or mono audio on a single CF (compact flash) memory card or Microdrive. Transfer audio files into a computer for editing or distribution by simply placing a recorded card into your computer PC card drive or use the built in computer I/O port for a no hassle approach to file transfer. The PMD670 is also fully compatible with Marantz Professional's PMDEdit editing and file management software.

    A great field recorder, and is currently a bargain to purchase. Performance and durability are outstanding.

    Pro's: Price point now makes this technology affordable to us non institutional, non rich folks. Well constructed. Accessories are still available, but can be costly. An outstanding recorder with lots of I/O programming and input/output options. A great value and durable field recorder, using readily available and inexpensive CF Cards. Lots of YouTube video support on this device. Specs and recording formats are extensive and programmable. Con's: Unit "eats" batteries. Have spare batteries, and/or a spare holder populated with batteries with you when in the field. Not all of these units in the used markets are complete units or are missing parts. Make sure you shop for the country/region you are in, and know if all parts/accessories are included with the unit. The LCD display on this unit, versus the smaller PMD 660 unit are a bit difficult to read, but once set up, work quite well. Reading and studying the manual are necessary to get the most from this unit, i.e. it is not an intuitive unit to "jump" into.

    Good unit if all works.

    This is an obsolete unit. It has been out of circulation for years. My unit works but can't be upgraded any longer. It suppose to work with 48v condenser mics(?) It does not for some unknown reason. All other sources for inputs work. For my needs...its good enough!
