    FT 1 Easy, Accurate heart rate monitoring

    FT 1 by Polar is Excellent: easy to read numbers, easy to program, continuous heart rate monitoring, providing summaries for selected time frame with average and peak (high) heart rates. This allows excellent heart rate monitoring. This is my 3rd FT 1 unit as I am a 24/7 user including rehab training sessions. Due to high use, I appreciate the Polar Tech Center in MI who maintain the unit (s). There are many units on the market that can provide similar information: the FT 1 is tops. Note Polar no longer makes this unit finding one in good condition is worth the wait.

    "New", but years old...and not working.

    This heart rate monitor was listed as "New"...Well, that is not exactly the case. Polar stopped making this monitor years ago. The monitor was still in the box and was never used. When I got the monitor, there was no display because the battery in the receiver was dead. I've had Polar monitors before and so I knew how to replace the battery in the receiver and did. However, the battery in the transmitter strap died within a few days, but it is not replaceable. It is molded in the strap. Replacement transmitter straps cost approx. $35.

    Great watch, but arrived with dead battery

    Excellent HRM. Have owned several over the years. Very accurate, and easy to set up. However, this particular unit arrived DOA. Battery was completely dead. Wouldn't turn on. Blank screen. Had to visit a local jeweler for a new battery ($10). Now it works perfectly, and is used regularly. Shouldn't have had to do that.

    Live and Learn

    This product is a live and learn. Both pieces require new batteries. The chest strap requires a heat gun to open the battery compartment and the watch itself requires a โ€œStarโ€ tip screwdriver (my old one has Phillips screws) neither of which I have. The tools cost as much as the item!
