  • Well written character study and the history is better then many give credit.

An excellent version of the book. The first copy I had I picked up at a flea market just to see . . . I finished it. I wanted a new copy as I was re-reading it. People complain and whine about this story. especially people where Tolstoy does not match their image. I just finished reading "Napoleon's Russian Campaign" by "Count Philippe-Paul de Count Segur " Very interesting are the portions of the event that match up. As well, Tolstoy's ability to create many different characters, separate them and bring them together again is very good.
