About this product

Product Information

The Tamron SP A005 USD camera lens is specially designed to be used with any member of the Canon family of digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras, commonly known as DSLR. The Tamron SP A005 has a focal length of a minimum of 70 mm and a maximum range of 300 mm with a max aperture field of between four and 5.6 mm as well as a USD ultra-silent drive motor for barely detectable focus changes. The Tamron SP A005 USD camera lens also has a mini-focal distance length of 59.1 inches so that the perfect shot can be captured, whether up close or into the distance. One of the most helpful features of the Tamron SP A005 is the vibration compensation image stabilization ability, which helps to reduce image distortion due to shaky hands during handheld photography whether the photography enthusiast is standing still or moving about to capture action shots. With its LD low dispersion and XLD extra low dispersion rates as well as nine diaphragm blades, this lens can quickly be manually focused or the photographer can rely on his or her Canon camera's auto focus setting. This lens is ideal for still objects and portraits as well as fast moving subjects such as auto, animal, or human racing and sports such as basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, and football. The dimensions of the Tamron SP A005 USD lens are 5.6 inches wide by 3.2 inches in diameter. It weighs a total of 27 ounces when it is off the camera.

  • Best of the lenses in this range

I have owned several of the lenses in the 70 to 300 and 100 to 300 zoom range...as far as the aftermarket lenses goes this seems to be the best.. it incorporates modern features like the ultrasonic motor and newer materials of construction. This lens is a little bulkier than several others that is lighter than you would expect. It focuses quickly with the two different brands.. Canon and Sony... That I have tried. If you buy the native high-end lenses from most grand you might get a performance advantage.. but you will double or triple the cost..especially now that use prices are going down these lenses are incredibly hard to beat.

  • Awesome telephoto lens for travel, portraits, and some wildlife.

Love this lens! It is quite compact for traveling. The picture is still quite sharp and usable and I use it adapted to a Fujifilm XS20. The VC (Image Stabilization) really works wonders, even at 300mm; it pairs really well with my camera's in-body stabilization. I'd recommend this best for traveling, casual, or even wildlife photography but it's usable for pro-work in a pinch!

  • Good Value

After reading reviews from others that this lens and the new 70-300mm mark ii from Canon are neck to neck in terms of performance, I decided to give it a try since it costs $150 less than its counterpart from Canon. I have used the lens for a couple times. The auto focus works well and it is pretty fast. It is not a fast lens. I mainly use it for landscape and outdoor sport during the day. It seems well constructed. This is my first Tamron lens so time will tell its durability.

  • Excellent alternative to the Canon lens

First, it is very heavy and solidly constructed. Image quality is excellent. When extended fully and photographing objects relatively far away, in Florida, at least, the image contrast is lower due to the effects of humidity, dust, etc. At closer distances it performs very well at all focal lengths. If you are shooting things other than lens charts, you will be very impressed with your results. As mentioned in another review, the switches are pretty easy to move accidentally, so be careful with that. Overall, I am very well satisfied, especially considering the very low price.

  • Light, Good and Sharp

Pros: Lightweight and not too big Sharp image Excellent VC Fast focus (silent, at least I can't hear it) Cons: looses a bit of sharpness in the corners at 300mm wide open but really nothing to worry about. In short, a really handy and easy zoom that gives good quality images, won't break the bank and is great for hiking and biking.

  • Light weight and affortable lens

I am new to astrophotography and thus looking for a tele lens of lower budget that could work with my existing equippment. This lens is well fit my need, light weight, and affortable. It is nearly perfect, except a tiny dot was found inside the lens. Hoping that post prossessing could easily fix it, espectually for astrophoto. Still waiting for a good wealther to test the image qulaity. Also thanks to the speedy delievery that I received the lens soon within a week.

  • Tamron has made a winner!

I like this lens better than the Nikon VR version for three reasons; Tamrons VC is rock solid and fast to counter hand held movement. The IQ this lens delivers is just as good as Nikons AF-S 70-300 VR and it cost much less for essentially the same lens. Tamron has made a winner!

  • Very happy

I was hesitant about this deal because it seemed too good to be true - $300 for a lens, delivered, with filters and cleaning kit, when used they were going for $165-$195. The box arrived in 3 days, nice package, lens is in new retail box, does not appear to be gray market. The filters came in a nice leatherette closable container (old school) which I did not expect. Took some pictures right away and happy with the results. Expect this lens to replace my Canon 70-200 L white lens, which is longer and heavier albeit a 2.8f lens that is awesome, particularly in low light. But the extra reach and smaller size makes this lens more versatile for daylight shots.

  • Oldie but goodie

An older lens, but still a great picture. A great way to get some extra length at an accessible price. I use it on my Canon EOS R for astrophotography.

  • Great and Valuable lens

Pros - Good quality of pictures - Quick and clear auto focus - Valuable price Cons - just satisfied lens body material - lens is quite heavy - a bit difficult to move the zoom ring as it is not smoothly as expected
