  • Cult Classic, underrated and mistakenly overlooked my most...

Another addition to my various versions of 'Blue Sunshine' which now total seven (I bought this just for the packaging, longbox format unheard of in the UK). Might never have got it either, but for eBay/ the internet!! Yes I have seven copies. I rather like The Glove. You may have guessed. Couple of creases on the box but no complaints there, that's not surprising given its age and the mileage its covered! As far as the album goes, I tend to ignore reviewers who complain about Jeanette Landray as vocalist rather than Bob Smith; if 'Smudger' had done all the vocals (he sings two of the twelve tracks) it would sound like another Cure album w/ Steve Severin as guest bass player. Quite apart from the fact that Landray's vocals suit the tracks perfectly AND she just happens do be drop dead 'Glovely'! (Well, thats just my opinion, if Smudger's your choice of singer I strongly recommend the double 'DeLuxe' CD version, on CD2 he takes the mic and Bob's your uncle- or rather Bob's your vocalist)

  • Impressive Classic

I love this! It may be the greatest collaboration for the post punk era, early 80's. It sounds and feels a lot like an optimistic Joy Division, energy, innovation and intelligence. Most of the vocals are by a female singer who sounds like a cross between Smith and Siouxsie. Robert sings two, I think, of the songs here. There's two or three instrumentals also. Blue Sunshine might sound a bit dated for some but I really love the classic post punk (old new wave?) feel. A HAPPY PURCHASE and no mistake.... 🎶 💗 😃
