talking spell checker
I'm a special education teacher. This spell checker is outstanding. It allows students to be independent when writing and gives me opportunities to discuss how to spell words the way they sound (phonetically) and other ways to spell sounds if the first try didn't work. It makes spelling become valuable to students, too. Also, because it has the "speak" feature, if they encounter a word that they don't know when reading, they can type it into the spell checker and have it "speak" the word to them. They can check the definition with an easy push of the "enter" button.
