About this product

Product Information

Building on the Superman myth, this television series from the 1990s centers on the young adult life of Clark Kent (Dean Cain) in the modern-day city of Metropolis. While struggling to balance his Superman duties with his job working for the Daily Planet, Kent meets and falls in love with fellow reporter Lois Lane. When news breaks of Superman's existence, however, Lane becomes smitten with the elusive superhero and unaware that Kent and Superman are the same person, wards off Kent's romantic advances. Driven by this odd romantic triangle of sorts, the show's first season also focuses on life around the Daily Planet office, and Superman's battles with a whole host of villains, making it part-romance, part-action/adventure. Contains all 22 one-hour episodes of Season One.

  • My guilty pleasure

I fell hopelessly in love with Dean Cain as Clark Kent when I was 8 years old (I still consider him my first love). I grew up much after the Christopher Reeve era, so to me this show is THE DEFINITIVE incarnation of the Superman legend. Apparently a modern twist on the legend, now, more than 10 years after its production, the show is a bit dated in its effects, the storylines very often lack credibility, and overall the show is very evidently 90's in style and production. BUT.... the video quality is fantastic, language is clean and content rarely objectionable, the cast is stellar, the dialogue is sharp and witty, and--above all--the love story is unique and timeless as ever. Teri Hatcher is fabulous and 100% believable. Dean Cain is also fabulous--though I gotta admit I don't believe ...

  • Great show, great characters/actors, great chemistry

Lois & Clark was one of the best shows on television in its day. The lead characters have some of the greatest chemistry seen in TV history. After Tango & Cash and before "Desperate Housewives," Tero Hatcher was the ultimate Lois Lane, even better than Margo Kidder from the original Superman movies and much better than Kate Bosworth in the newer Superman Returns movie. Bosworth is a talented actress, but was unable to capture the true Lois energy, drive, intensity, sensuality, and, of course, the requisite ability to get into the stickiest of situations. Margo Kidder was great, but lacked the sensuality and emotion that Hatcher perfected in the Lane character. Dean Kane was perfect as the good-hearted, bumbling Clark Kent, as well as the heroic Superman. It is heard ...

  • Really Enjoyable show

I've really enjoyed this show, I didn't see it when it was airing so I wanted to check it out. It's a great turn from what's on these days, decent, good stoylines around Superman, just an all around good show. My only complaint is that I wish shows about Classic comics would have one backstory about Superman (etc) and then be true to it no matter how many series pop up over the years. I've watched them all now, going back to theblack and white Adventures of Superman which I LOVE to Smallville which I also Love. The problem is, it;s annoying that every show makes up thier own history of Clark Kent's family life and they are all different. I know there's some aspects not included in the comics, leaving things open but Clark Kent is still Clark Kent and his whole personal history should ...

  • Creative & Experimental

This first season introduces this new incarnation of Superman who is the most down to earth of all Supermans. He actually has both parents living, married to each other, they're wise and active in his life and they have a strong relationship. One of the remarkable characteristics of this superman are his many clearly defined strengths: physical, moral, ethical and relational. He even has one or two powers that Christopher Reeve didn't have! It's a creative and innovative start. There are some very touching and memorable episodes that make this set worth having. The Jimmy Olson in this season is very different from future seasons but he's likable and complex even though he looks a lot like Dean Cain. The character of Cat (the society columnist) is entertaining and a funny foil but by ...
