A powerful story, a remarkable leader, and incredible direction here. Invictus is the true story of Nelson Mandela and the '95 Rugby World Cup. Eastwood easily could have pulled on the emotional strings and presented the harsh realities of the apartheid in South Africa. He also could have appealed to any impatient movie watchers by inserting graphic details of the grueling years of captivity Mandela endured. But instead this story begins immediately after he was released from prison and is elected president. He has the daunting task of rebuilding the country after the fall of apartheid. Could sports really help a country unite? The acting here is impeccable. Morgan Freeman has turned in tons of great performances, but never has he felt more perfect for a role. Great Movie!
I love this movie. I got to see more into the man Nelson Mandela was. I am a rugby player so I thought I would enjoy the movie for that reason alone but the movie did not have to much to do with the actual game of rugby but had to do with the Team and what both Nelson Mandela and the South African national team did to get the country to start to come together due to the Rugby World Cup. Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman did great as well as all the actors in the movie. Clint Eastwood is the man for bringing this story to the big screen. I feel this movie made me think about life and the good human beings can do after watching this movie. I have watched it around 20 times already on HBO, thank you DVR!!!!I love this movie.
