Everyone wonders about if there's an afterlife and what is it like. Having a strong medical background I have faced seeing death frequently and have recently lost my mother for which I still grieve. I was interested in a physician's experience with actually dying and returning after resuscitation. Although the author had a Lutheran background, I found the book relying more heavily on discussing the strong faith and religion rather than the ( recalled) experiences of actual death. I found it interesting enough, it essentially repeats what we have all heard before. I was looking for descriptions of actual experiences in more detail. If you are not a very religious person, you may question the validity of the documented experience. I don't regret reading it, but I don't completely accept the story as unadulterated facts. The presence of hope and faith in religion are certainly dominant features in this book. Sadly I was somewhat disappointed to read the book was promoted on Fox News which I frankly despise because of Fox's long history of false information. Perhaps I had incorrect expectations of the book, but for some people, they may also questioning the validity and accuracy of the book. I didn't spend a lot of money on it used, but I can't say it was enlightening to me.Read full review

I did enjoy reading this book although I found the title very misleading. I can see how someone who is expecting to read about a detailed near death experience might be disappointed. It's just not here. I can relate well in some ways with this doctor's many experiences of "coincidences" and feeling the frequent help from "the other side". I grew up believing that God and his angels were always nearby to provide guidance and help. She does include some very nice accounts throughout her life where she felt guided by the unseen. Most of this book are about these types of experiences and those I certainly understand from my own life. The disappointment is directly due to the book's title and the TV interviews Dr Neal made. They both lead the reader to expect much more in terms of a near death experience. My own bookshelves are filled with books of near death experiences that I call my "heaven books". Of all the books this one and one other (90 minutes in Heaven) focused much more on the author's life story and gave only the slightest glimpse of what they experience in the minutes they were clinically dead. I enjoyed Dr Neal's book also because her beliefs in God are much more in line with my own. Some of the afterlife books (again 90 minutes in Heaven and also Heaven is Real) are written by a minister or a minister's child....thus they focus on more religious beliefs rather than the Spiritual beliefs. This is a well written story about a lady who I do believe had a near death experience albeit very brief and slightly vague and how this event affected her life. If you are not expecting a lot of detail of this experience I would recommend this as a good read to help get in touch with your own feelings about God and His greater plan for us.Read full review
I love near death stories and this one kept me enthralled with the stories of Heaven. Heaven is real!!! God has shown me Heaven in dreams and it is exactly like the description in this book. No more sorrow, no more pain! Joy for all eternity. Jesus Christ is there and so are our loved ones who have gone on. To the author: God bless you for writing your experiences in Heaven. It made my heart smile. God bless one and all.

This is a great story about the author. I read the entire book in three days as it was a really interesting story. I have probably read two dozen books about this type of experience and I find it amazing that the Lord grants people this amazing journey.

The story is a true story and an account of God’s mercy and unbelievable miracle. I have seen the story on TV but the book details other events where it’s clear that God has been with doctor Cathy and her family and He made her aware of His presence; A God who loves her. Once I began to read it I couldn’t put it down. It is easy to understand.
