Great filter made better with a little tweak.
This is an excellent filter operates almost silently . Is easy to setup and is doing a great job filtering my 6 x 2 foot tank . However i believe in my humble opinion that the way aqua one instruct you to setup the media baskets is incorrect . Water flows top to bottom in this filter as it flows up the last stage of filtration is uv sterilisation . So i setup the top basket with three sponges ( coarse,medium fine ) then filter floss/wool.The media that was in the top then went to bottom tray .Like i say this is how i believe it should be done mechanical filtration first .This is an excellent filter operates almost silently . Best Filter going
Really quiet, easy priming and robust. Can run along time between tray changes [Wool replace, pad cleaning] provided you keep up your 50% water changes. Only tricky thing is the impeller. Having a ceramic shaft they can snap really easily when changing out. Be really careful not to force the twist seal and line the little lugs up perfectly before twisting back into place. Grease well with a marine grease as this is key to the quietness enjoyed by silent running. If you experience a continuous sucking noise and priming the filter becomes difficult [ie: air in the lines despite the priming process being full] it will more than likely be a snapped impeller shaft. Should be made of stainless steel Aqua One. Other than that we are running 12 fish and Turtle in a 220 ltr tank with now problems, ... Really quiet, easy priming and robust. it suits me for exactly what I need.
