My one complaint about this box set is that the episodes are labeled in roman numerals without a description or at least a picture to indicate what I'm about to watch. I didn't see a list with the box set either, so if you like watching Jack hardcore enough to remember exactly which episode is which number then by all means rate it 5 out of 5, but for the rest of us that's a ball buster.

The colors and art are in hd, but I have noticed a couple of things that could make it better. Straight lines appear to be jagged sometimes. When they are jagged, they can be seen on characters, the environment, and other objects/items in a scene. The aspect ratio is not widescreen. It seems to be using 4:3 like the crt's of days past and has a vertical black bar on the left and right sides of the screen. This isn't a major issue for me personally, but it would have been nice to watch in widescreen. Other than the sometimes jagged edges, this was better than I expected.

My only problem with this set is not really a big deal but for the amount of money they were asking at retail (80-90usd ) for a bare collection the outer box is nice quality and finish and the interior art is nice but you think it would have some sort of inserts whether it be episode list or artwork. There is nothing in it. but samurai jack is awesome and it's worth getting if you can get it for a reasonable price

Samurai Jack is the most unique and compelling cartoons I've ever seen. The story telling is largely visual, dialogue minimal, and the stories simple. Yet, because Genndy Tartakovsky has so much command over the visuals and the pacing, each episode is delightful and hypnotizing. If Akira Kurosawa had made cartoons for kids, he'd have made Samurai Jack
