    Return to Oz dvd

Good movie. Had never seen it before purchasing it. Definitely wild for a Disney film.

Improved picture and sound, removed extras.

I love this movie and also own the DVD of this. All of the extras that were completed for the DVD have been removed. It seems to be that way with all Disney movie club exclusive blu rays. To any super fan of Return To Oz, I suggest making your own blu ray dvd combo pack, as I have done with this, as well as Swiss Family Robinson. Any Wizard Of Oz fan should watch this movie at least once. Totally different and darker vibe than the original 1939 film. It takes place 6 months or so after the tornado and continues her story. I highly recommend the film itself. If you are going to own one version of the film and don't need extras, the Blu ray is the one to get. It does have better picture and sound. It also can't hurt to make your own blu ray/DVD combo pack.

  • Return to Oz: Delightfully cheesy

This is a delightfully cheesy sequel to the classic Wizard of Oz. This was made in the 80s, and it certainly shows with the animatronics and special effects. Nonetheless, it is a treasured movie from my childhood, and I enjoyed watching it again with adult eyes. Perhaps the glamour wore off and I could see the cheesiness of the story and effects, but I still love the movie and will watch it over and over (and I hate watching movies more than once!). I wouldn't really recommend it for young kids, as some of the scenes might be a bit frightening for those younger ones, but teenagers are definitely old enough to watch, though they probably will think it's far too stupid compared to their generation's high-tech, high-budget movies. If you watched this movie when you were younger, you might ...

  • The Darker Version of Oz

It's not the happy, dancing characters down the yellow brick road of MGM, but it is a true adaption of the second installment of the 16 books that L.Frank Baum wrote about the wonderful land of Oz. This version has the characters looking more like the drawings in the original books and it is a more darker, scarier story than the original one. It's not that the characters aren't intriguing its just that the beloved characters we know don't show up until the final few minutes. But if you love Dorothy, and want to go on a completely different adventure with her, and her chicken Belina, then this movie is for you! It could be scary for younger children so I would advise you watch the movie on your own before airing it for them, I would say over the age of 9 they could handle the darker ...

  • Return to Oz

Many people are under the impression that this movie follows the books more closely than the original Wizard of Oz. This is untrue--Return to Oz combines the second and third Oz books and takes several liberties with the content therein, namely adding the beginning of the movie and changing things around so that it focuses on Dorothy rather than princess Ozma, which makes sense. I mean, if you're watching this movie you'd probably rather watch Dorothy and not some weird princess, right? Anyway, this movie is awesome, but you'll have to watch until Dorothy gets back to Oz before you'll like it. The beginning they added where Dorothy is in Kansas about to get electroshock therapy is extremely depressing and too frightening for little kids. After that part, the whole movie is a treat for ...
