Inktense are great, although there is a steep learning curve, specially if like me, you have no previous experience in a wet medium. What I love about the inktense: 1.- Super intense colors. 2.- Incredibly versatile. I can use them with brushes, with nib pens, as blocks, stamps, stencils, on fabric, for base layers to use colored pencils over, etc. 3.- Probably its most important feature, is the layering. Since is water soluble INK not watercolors, it is permanent. meaning you can paint a layer, wait untill it dries, and paint another layer, and another. The previous layer wont lift, move nor smudge. 4.- Since I usually paint with colored pencils, I find inktense super fast medium. I can finish a project in an hour or even less, in smaller sizes.

I'm so disappointed with this product many of the sticks have broken some in 3 places & this happened on the 1st occasion that I used them I like to work big & so can't get a broad sweep of colour using the full length of the stick I was also hoping the colours would be as pure as using ink

I love this versatile art medium. The ink blocks come in a wide range of beautiful and intense colours and produce lovely results. they can be used as dry or wet 'pastels', wetted and painted on paper or fabric with a brush, or grated and mixed with water and used in a spray bottle, for varios effects. They layer beautifully when used wet and allowed to dry between layers, resulting in a permanent stain. They would be excellent for use in a scapbook or collage. Thankyou Derwent for a lovely product.

I use Derwent Inktense now because the strength of colour is excellent and can be thinned to look more like watercolour. It is now my favourite form of painting media as the colours don't go muddy when mixed and the colours are fantastic on the paper, and indeed fabric. I had a set of 24 but went for the 72 pack to get the full range of colours. Another benefit is that the blocks can be purchased singly, so the colours can be individually replaced when used up. They seem eye-wateringly expensive, but last well and give superb results.

I bought the inktense pencils first and was so pleased with them I then bought the 72 box of blocks. I am no artist but with these tools I can create good images on paper, fabric and anything else I care to try them on, with great success. The box is great value and when you need another single one you can buy them separately.
