      Visual Dessert!!

      What a consummate tragedy that Hollywood overlooked this brilliant film! It deserved Best Cinematography hands down. I could also have seen a Best Actor for wonderful Timothy Spal who “becomes” Turner in every sense of the word and was born to play this part. This is the fascinating story of a very interesting and complex man whose art (like so many others) was not appreciated in his day. Queen Victoria hated his glorious works. Many many of the scenes are shot as perfect representations of Turner paintings. I can watch it again and again just for the sheer visual pleasure of it. Ought to wax ecstatic about the casting which was superb and then go equally effusive about the costuming and dialog (all of which was fabulously, meticulously authentic) but that would go on so long ...

      An intimate look at Turner's life.

      Absolutely loved the movie. It is more intimate than I had expected which took some adjustment but I really admirer the acting and the focus on Turner's personal relationships.

      Art more important than the artist

      The trailer film clips were the best parts of the movie. The rest of the movie was plodding and unconvincing. Should have focused on the art and not the artist.
