You really can't go wrong with these Wilkinson E-Z-LOK Tuners. I do believe they're supposed to come as a stepped set to help get a proper angle depending on which string they're installed on. Mine were all the same. Installing new strings is a snap, and appears to hold a tune. Taking strings off requires a little more effort than with other tuners, but worth the trade-off for the super easy installation. They look great. They work great. The price is great.

Installation on a Squier '51 (Tele neck) was easy tuners covered old holes. I did have to drill one hole for each tuner but was able to install, line up, and tighten bolt before drilling. Used soap on screws (and needed it) to lube as the Squiers heatstocks are old and hardened. So install was a dream. Now stringing is another item. I am still not sure if I am using these correctly. Thay are a derivative of locking tuner. But the way they lock is that each tuner has 2 holes all the way through at a 90 degree angle to each other. You pull the string through bottom hole wrap 1 & 1/4 wraps and pull up. It is then locked and you tension to tune. Not hard but not intuitive (east) . They end up with a small bit of luped string and do not look as neat as true locking or even vintage tuners. But easy install and work good.Read full review

I was able to install these tunning machines in my stratocaster. It was very easy, just remove the old ones and replace. Keep in mind these are for a diameter of 10mm. Usually Fender will have smaller diameter of 5mm. But, you can use a drill if the diameter is a different size. The machine is very smooth.

These tuners work great. I love how easy they are to string up, pull string through first hole and pull tight. Wrap tag end around post one time and through the second hole and pull tight. Tune to pitch, easy peasy. I put one set on my Fender Balboa acoustic and one on my Fender Strat. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade.

Locking tuners usually have a wheel that tightens an inner ingot to hold the string in place. These tuners lock, but without the inner ingot. Wilkenson have designed a tuner with two holes through the shaft . The string passes through once and comes out, then is strung again through the second hole. This holds it securely from slipping. Try them if you can. I did.
