Reviews
"One of the epic treks of the human race. Shackleton, Franklin, Amundsen. . .history is filled with people who have crossed immense distances and survived despite horrific odds. None of them, however, has achieved the extraordinary feat Rawicz has recorded. He and his companions crossed an entire continent--the Siberian arctic, the Gobi desert and then the Himalayas--with nothing but an ax, a knife, and a week's worth of food. . . His account is so filled with despair and suffering it is almost unreadable. But it must be read--and re-read." --Sebastian Junger, author of The Perfect Storm "The long walk is a book that I absolutely could not put down and one that I will never forget. . ."--Stephen Ambrose

    The Long Walk review

The story is really engaging from start to finish. After reading I found there were too many hard to believe incidents of the ordeal that make the tale a bit beyond belief. Others question that perhaps the story is a fabrication. I agree--unfortunately.

  • The long walk is true adventure-and it's true.

I first read this 5 years ago and have never forgotten the thrill of reading it. I was able to put it down a couple of times, while i slept or had a meal, but that was hard to do. It is compelling. I lost it in my move and just had to have it in my library again, hence, this purchase. READ IT!

  • The Long Walk

I loved the book. I bought another one, because I loaned my first one out and couldn't remember who had it. It is an excellent book.

  • Very interesting, gripping story of perseverance

This book is one of those true life sagas that is almost hard to believe. It is full ouf courage regardless, as the author and several others escape a prison camp in Siberia in the winter and walk all the way to India over the next many months, including an incredible passage thru the Gobi desert and over the Himalayas. Well worth reading if you like true adventure rather than fantasy adventure!

  • Amazing
