    These transformers are good for crystal radios!

    I use these transformers as matching units in home made crystal sets. One can transform as much as 40K ohms down to 8 ohms with these units and many other impedance combinations in between. They work very well when using a real 1N34 detector diode. And the secret to great volume is the use of sound powered headphones and of course hiqh quality variable capacitor with heavy litz wire in the tuned circuit. Also, don't forget a high antenna at least 75 feet long and a ground connection with a minimum of two paralleled 8 foot ground rods. Great fun to hear WSM in Nashville TN from here in NH! - billsalemnh

    It provides for the optional imoedence matching necessary to get the optimum yield out of rectivied signals for my crystal sets and other receivers.
