Synopsis
I hope, for your sake, that you have not chosen to read this book because you are in the mood for a pleasant experience. If this is the case, I advise you to put this book down instantaneously, because of all the books describing the unhappy lives of the Baudelaire orphans, The Miserable Mill might be the unhappiest yet. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are sent to Paltryville to work in a lumber mill, and they find disaster and misfortune lurking behind every log. The pages of this book, I m sorry to inform you, contain such unpleasantries as a giant pincher machine, a bad casserole, a man with a cloud of smoke where his head should be, a hypnotist, a terrible accident resulting in injury, and coupons. I have promised to write down the entire history of these three poor children, but you haven t, so if you prefer stories that are more heartwarming, please feel free to make another selection. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket Ages 10+ ", NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES I hope, for your sake, that you have not chosen to read this book because you are in the mood for a pleasant experience. I have promised to write down the entire history of these three poor children, but you haven't, so if you prefer stories that are more heartwarming, please feel free to make another selection. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket, As Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire look out the grimy window of the train taking them to The Lucky Smells Lumber Mill to live, they can't help but wonder what lies ahead. Will misfortune lurk behind every log Though these children are clever, resilient, and good-looking, everything that could possibly go wrong for them, unfortunately, usually does. In this forth book in A Series of Unfortunate Events, I'm sorry to say, the children will encounter a giant pincher machine, a bad casserole, a man with a cloud of smoke where his head should be, a hypnotist, a ghastly accident, and coupons. From the tradition of classic tales for children, where terrible things always seem to befall orphans, comes this exquisitely dark comedy that is both literary and irreverent, hilarious and deftly crafted. This latest installment in Lemony Snicket's uproariously unhappy series may just be the worst yet. • a good read for the fall.

my son read this book and not only kids can read it so can grown-ups! He said it was about 3 orphans (There parents died in a terrible fire.) who are being chased by this count olaf guy because he wants their inheritance money which is a lot. they have had some journeys before in other books and some after this book. This one is about a mill they have to go to because that is where their guardians are supposed to be. they have an unlucky adventure throught out the book including an optometrist, gum, work, casserole, and a guy they meet who is a good friend. I bought this book with the others books i got 1-9 of the series. My son wanted them so i bought them oof ebay and i strongly suggest everybody buy this set.

  • Misery and Despair

Another excellent Lemony Snicket book! The Baudelaire orphans are put to work by their new guardian and are allowed only one meal per day. Their misery seems to have reached its peak until they discover two kindred spirits who, though not terribly helpful, give the Baudelaires a sliver of hope that there is still good in the world... The books are a quick read and are interesting throughout. This series is great for anyone--I highly recommend it!

  • Totally worth it!

We are starting our collection of these wonderful books. For every holiday, we been buying my 11 year old son these books as gifts. Now, I want to let you know that he has A.D.D. These books are so great that he can actually stay focused and read these from beginning to end. At least he has the first 3 so far. We are looking forward to book 4.
