Since I am restoring a '55 Chevy, it was very informative to me to get a firm grasp on the automobile Era leading up to the manufacture of a beautiful car, that I feel was before it's time! The V-8 "small block" engine was concieved in a very short span of time, and was used for many years in diferent cubic inch configurations, depending on bore and stroke, all the way from 265 cubic inch to the 400 small block,[Generation 1], which now a days, the hot-rodders use that 3.750 stoke crankshaft from the 400, and turn the mains to fit the 350 blocks, and make a "383 stroker" with ALL kinds of low-end torque! It's kinda unique that the basic concept of that FIRST Chevy V-8 was SO famous in all aspects of racing, for so many years, and also very competitive.
