I have been fascinated by Henry VIII since I first heard about him. I tried another book and couldn't get past the first few pages. Weir has a knack for drawing readers in and not letting them go. I bought this book about a month ago and I am savoring it - taking my time reading it so that I retain as much of it as possible (which is why I couldn't just borrow this from the local library). I still have about 100 pages to go, and I'm looking forward to finishing this book so that I can start another by Weir. The section of photos helps to place faces with names while you're reading - it can get a little confusing. The bibliography and genealogical tables are also helpful (especially if you are a visual learner!). I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for more than Hollywood's version of history.Read full review
After watching the Showtime series The Tudors, I wanted to learn more about Henry VIII and his wives. This is a good follow up study and goes into more detail with the author’s intensive research. Great book if you are interested in this subject.

Alison Weir’s books are written very well, this book is not a novel- it is written with all the historical facts. — Very interesting. She takes everything to the next level, not your run-of-the-mill story novel. she does a lot of research. I l on be her books
