This set is a great value. The models alone are worth the price of admission, and you get the new rule book and some fluff on top of it. Great build quality on the new models too. They are robust and have very few mold lines, which saves a fair bit of prep worth. The only complaint is that these models do offer few variant build options (limited to exchanging a bit here or there), though that is a minor complaint considering how many models are included.

Hardback rulebook: it contains the core rules which actually only makes up a small portion of the book. The rest of the 'rulebook' is information about the races, the armies, and fluff about the 40K universe, which for the new player adds a lot to the background to the armies. To the veterain player it brings them up to the new version and might fill in some background they might not know? The plastic miniatures are beautiful in their sculpting and contains a little variety of Space Marines and Necrons. With these two armies a player can get started playing in the 40K universe! There is no terrain pieces, nor dice included. So for a new player the battlefield will be a little sparce and will have to make sure to have some D6 (6-sided dice) to play. Overall it was a great price for a starter edition of 40K!Read full review

Really high quality, especially the rulebook. Sometimes I feel like Games workshop trys to RIP you off by trying to get you to buy new rulebooks and codexes constantly, but when you see how high quality the rulebook is, and how much good stuff is in it, you'll see that it's totally worth $80 by itself. I am really impressed! Great value for the models as well!

Great set for its value! It's one of the largest boxed set that GW has put out. Great way to start your Space Marine and/or Necron army as well.

I didn't get one when they original released, so made to order is amazing. For the amount of stuff you get in the box, it feels like a rare bargain in an otherwise expensive hobby. I wish GW would do this more often to help us beat the scalpers who scoop up everything limited edition. The only downer is that the decal sheet in my box was misprinted. I have enough spares for it not to matter, but if this were my first foray into building a primaris army, I'd be more upset.
