About this product

Product Information

The Sigma EX F/2 for Nikon and Canon DSLR digital cameras can help you snap professional shots with ease. The technology in this F/2 lens is designed for standard and wide-angle photographs. As you take pictures with this Nikon accessory, you’ll constantly take advantage of the product’s advanced photography features. For example, whenever you need shots with a lot of detail, the zoom mode can be used because it has great stabilization. Before you snap these photos, the lens will autofocus using the bundled HSM technology and engage the flash automatically. While this is happening, the unique low-dispersion components on the glass elements will correct aberrations. It'll also enhance the quality of each image so that everything is crisp and sharp.Shooting strategic photographs with the Sigma EX F/2 zoom lens isn’t complicated since the product is well-designed. All of the zoom settings are printed conveniently on the side of the housing. The mechanism that controls the magnification has ridges that provide a good grip when the dial is rotated. Above this mechanism, there are two more dials that have similarly designed ridges. The rotating drum in the middle of the housing is slightly large, while the dial close to the lens is narrow. By using the Sigma 17-50mm F/2 lenses for Nikon and Canon cameras, you can take great action shots. The key technology that makes sports photographs stand out is the Optical Stabilizer. This feature will help you snap precise pictures while you’re standing in a packed arena. The Optical Stabilizer will activate whenever fans shake the bleachers as they cheer and stomp. If a fan blocks your shot, the Sigma EX can benefit you in this situation as well. Thanks to the OS, this 17-50mm accessory for Canon and Nikon can make strategic adjustments quickly and accurately following each movement. No matter where you snap a shot, the results will be impressive because the Sigma F/2 has a multi-layer coating. This special material reduces ghosting and flare after the lens processes an image. This F/2 17-50mm lens by Sigma for a Canon and Nikon camera has unique design specifications. The construction is strong and durable, and the technology provides a 27.9- to 72.4-degree angle of view. You can take long-range photographs from multiple angles successfully with this lens since the maximum focus is 1:5. This feature-packed, 50mm Nikon accessory can be used during professional shoots and vacations because it’s slim and sleek. The entire gadget is 3.3 inches by 3.6 inches and weighs 19.9 ounces.

Great value with wonderful performance and image quality (correction write up should say 17-50 not 55)

Review written May 24, 2016. Camera used on Nikon D7000. Professional photographer (Weddings, Studio/Location Portraits) Needed for low light environments such as Churches, reception halls and locations which prohibit flash. Headshot capability to separate subject from the background. Primarily prefer prime lens but needed the zoom capability. Normally shoot with a full frame and Crop sensor (Nikon DX) cameras. We are 100 % sure we will always have DX cameras so decided to buy dedicated professional lenses to give us close focal lengths to the full frames lenses so we bought Sigma 17-55 OS version and the Sigma 50-150 non OS to reduce weight. The Sigma 17-55 is a wonderfully sharpe and fast lens (we don't shoot sports) With OS on its great. No need to have it on all the time. Images are ...

  • Top critical review

    Sigma 17-50,my thoughts

I would say it to be a good lens for the money. Not as sharp as I had hoped however better than what you get from a kit lens. All in all until I can afford a pro quality lens I feel this lens will satisfy most ammeter photo enthusiast.

  • Great kit lens replacement

As the title suggests, this lens replacement my kit 18-55 Nikkor. Thats exactly what I wanted too. Recently upgrading my body to the D7100 made the kit lens noticeably struggling with my desires, especially low light. This sigma has given me much more light and control with the aperture. Pictures are sharp, possibly a hair less than the kit actually, but unnoticeable unless printing wall art or something. Barrel distortion and vignetting is also considerably better and close to perfect. My only complaints are; its heavy, and the zoom ring goes opposite of nikkor standard lenses. I have not had the opportunity to use other similar class lens, but so far I would definitely recommend this Sigma as a kit replacement.

  • My most used lens, always on my D500 - Daytime or night...

This has to be one of the best value lenses in the universe! I am a paid pro event photographer, not an exotic artsy pixel peeping geek photographer so I appreciate value and quality in a lens. I use this lens on each and every shoot! The events I do range from Parades with hundreds of thousands of people to indoor cocktail parties and charity galas. The images I get from this lens are just plain usable every time. Yes it has barrel distortion at the 17mm end but that is a one click fix in Lightroom. The 2.8 constant aperture and the contrasty results are what I appreciate. Daytime or night, this is my go to lens now.

  • Great Walk-About Lens

For a DX camera, this is a good lens. It's fast, the optical stabilization is quiet, and it takes great photos. One thing I liked is that it has a dedicated "lock" button to lock the lens so that size is reduced. One thing I didn't like is that the zoom motion is opposite regular Nikon lenses - you turn anticlockwise (looking through the eyepiece) to extend the zoom and zoom in, which will be confusing if you're used to Nikon zoom lenses. All in all, it's a good buy. If the zoom has been set up the other way, I'd have said it's an excellent buy.
