Gave new life to old equipment

I found my old Sony MDS-JB980 in the loft and thought it too good for the scrap heap simply because it wouldn't eject the minidisc. A quick internet search showed this belt as the common problem through lack of elasticity. I simply removed the disc drive from the casing & using tweezers removed the old, loose belt. The new one is a bit fiddly to put in but only took a few minutes with a steady hand. It now works like a dream. Very happy, although it does seem rather expensive for a tiny, little ring of rubber.

  • Does what it sayd

I wasn`t sure when I saw that the new belt seemed slightly bigger diameter than the old one. But then I realised the new one hardly stretches. The old one had no strength left. Fiddly to fit but a paper clip bent over at the very end - acting like a hook - enables you to fit this over the large pulley and then pull it back over the small one. Be patient, should be done in 5 minutes. Its a lot to pay for a small rubber belt but its perfect and you only do this once. (I have 2 recorders and they both showed problems within 6 months of each other so probably the rubber degrades at a certain age. Just repaired both )

  • G9d product

Repaired my Sony mini disc player ejecting the disc problem. Little fiddly to fit and I think it's overpriced for what it is. Nevertheless it done the job. Hopefully my player will last a good few years to come Thanks

  • Just a tiny rubber band.

This is just a little rubber band, about 15mm diameter. That's all it is, and it's a fiver. Great. Ah well, it fits your cd/MD player so it's worth it. It's very easy to fit, just take the lid of the MD player, open up the loading mechanism, it's on a hinge, and pop the rubber band on with some tweezers. That's it. Job done
