About this product

Product Information

You'll never again confuse affect and effect! Have you ever been fazed by the spelling of phased, or fretted over the difference between anxiety and angst, stationery and stationary? If so, you are not alone: the English language is a minefield, full of words that look and sound alike but mean different things in different places. Who's Whose? is an entertaining and essential A to Z guide to the most commonly confused words in English today, with real examples of good and bad usage to make differences crystal clear. In addition to documenting these verbal confusions, it offers a sympathetic guide to the seriousness of each gaffe (the Embarassment rating), an explanation of why it happens, and some handy hints on how to avoid it in future. With Who's Whose in your corner, you'll never again mistake a principle for a principal.

The book is in amazing condition, above “acceptable” and shipped in a bubblewrap envelope. Though there are some soft color fading the top and bottom edge, it hardly seemed used and has that library book smell. Glad I took a chance because the description was general and there was no photo. Seller also didn’t provide additional description when asked. But they did promptly cancel my cancellation when asked and sent quickly. Thank you for the Tuesday surprise!

Seller listed this as hardback but sent a paperback version. I received it in a torn plastic mailer that exposed the book so I’m unsure about its initial quality vs any damage that may have occurred during delivery. I attempted contact x2 to replace it with the correct version with no reply. Waste of good money. Don’t trust this seller to ship what you actually buy or package it with care. Bait and switch.

  • Great for English teacher

As an English teacher, I find this book indispensable. Good speller are hard to find these days and if one can demonstrate the difference between two words that sound alike, that teacher should be loved by her students.
