    Since I have just received this machine I haven't had much chance to use it fully. Looks good with only one slight blemish. Analog picture looked exactly as it should. Watched on a minute or two of an old homemade VHS but got a very good picture. Would buy again from this seller since these old machines may not last long.

    Showed up well before expected. Well packaged, remote seems to be brand new. A bit concerned when I unwrapped the unit as there was a distinct rattle of something loose inside! Not indicative of something that has been quality checked prior to shipping, yikes. So I popped the front cover off and removed (see picture) a loose screw. The screws securing the metal cover also seem to be non-standard (i.e., do not fit *any* screwdriver). A bit disconcerting. Unit seems to work, but kind of dodgy.

    Hi. Sorry about the shipping damage. One main problem with older plastic breaks with age. The screw came out from the tape transport. Sony only designed for one screw to hold down the front. I am working on a modification for this unit. Thanks for your business. Please have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    Good VCR for watching and recording old VHS tapes

    Sony has always made decent VCr's. This particular model is easy to set up out of the box. When playing or recording a tape the unit is very quiet unlike other VCRs I have owned in the past. The picture quality is excellent. Programming is very straight forward. This unit will only accept anaog cable input or an outside antenna which will receive high definition TV signals. This VCR is very light weight and has a very small form factor.

    Sony VHS tape ejector

    I usually love the Sony VHS above any other brands I've tried,but this one arrived and was faulty! After hooking it up I went to put a vhs tape in and it ejected it immediately. I tried other tapes and it did the same. I had someone look at it and they said yes, it had something wrong with it so I sent it back.

    One of the best VCR models Sony made

    After much research, I found that this model SLV-N55 was one of Sony's best VCRs. I bought it and had it serviced. (They should be periodically cleaned) The technician told me this unit was really well made and expensive when first sold. It produces a good picture, considering it's not high definition. It has Hi-Fi Stereo sound. I expect many more years of service from this unit.
