This was the most lovingly packaged item I have ever recieved. The books were wrapped with such care that I felt like I was opening a gift from a close friend as I unwrapped it. Included in the package was a handwritten postcard wishing me well and two Detroit Tigers baseball cards (very thoughtful, as I live in Detroit) - totally unsolicited. Oh, Lawsy, Julia Reed is the Queen of Nawlins now, but her tales of the Queen of the Turtle Derby and other magnificent Southern phenomena is a must-read for all Belles and Wannabees, as well as any right-thinking woman who finds it necessary on occasion to raise a little hell. Ms. Reed's prose is in that inimitable category with Florence King and Jill Conner Browne. Within the delightful pages of Turtle Derby, you will partake of glorious gossip about Tammy Wynette, tales of Nawlins plagues (pre-Katrina), colorful murders, and general eatin and lotsa drinkin tales that make Southern life distinctive, enduring, and pleasurable. Read it now and often and don't forget Julia's newest, The House on First Street. P.S. I am not a personal friend of relative of Julia Reed. I just love her ...
