No effort install in windows 10, just plug it in. I get almost double the speed of my previous dual band netgear (the older model of this), it has a better signal and more stable.

I bought this item for $70 in 2020 because my computer didn't have a wifi connection and it was too far away to connect to the router via ethernet cable. It worked fine for one year and then conveniently after the warranty ended, it began dropping out every now and then. This was annoying, but to fix it all I had to do was unplug and replug and it was fine. Now in the second year of owning this item, it doesn't work more than it does work. Considering how times have changed due to covid, where everything is online now, this is absolutely unacceptable. For $70 you'd think it would last much longer. Nope. I bought something expensive figuring I would be set for ages. WRONG! Absolute waste of money. I went to Bunnings and bought a new ethernet cord and ethernet cord extender for all of $17 with my PowerPass card. Should have done that from the beginning! I am so, so disappointed in this item and the seller. I am beyond livid that I went through two years of my purchases just to come back and write a bad review. I purchased this external WiFi adaptor to improve the WiFi connection to my laptop, that had quite a weak internal one, and only ever ran at 150mbps. I was not disappointed, and as soon as I had located the correct A6210 drivers (Do NOT use the A6200 ones, as they use a different chip), it ran fine at 300mbps on the 2.4G network, with an excellent 95% or higher signal quality. I used WiFiInfoView software from NIRSOFT to check that. I am sure that it would be excellent on the 5G band too, but my router is only a 2.4G single band router currently. I like the fact that you have a nice long cable on this, and can move the antenna too, to get the best possible signal quality. This has given me much better download and page load speeds for the laptop.

Getting the new standard of WiFi is generally always recommended. I and getting 20% more signal strength but haven't tested the range. Compared to my last 2 wireless network cards, the signal is more stable (not perfect like cat6) and was easily adapted to windows 10. Not automatic with windows 7. If you have the USB ports to spare on your desktop, this is totally worth getting over all the others. If not, you are better off with a internal wifi card. Highly recommend plugging this into USB3.0 over USB2.0. I keep the antenna down because I am not that far away from my new netgear ac1200 router but I can only assume, the signal strength will be stronger again. Do some research yourself online about the USB network cards for ac signals. You will see that this model wins even though it isn't the cheapest but still beats a lot of the more expensive ones in it's category.Read full review
