Brother has been in the office machine business for quite a long time so when I bought this machine my expectations were quite high. Remembering a number of years back I had a Brother printer/fax machine that worked very well so I thought I would give Brother another try. I am certainly glad I did, when this machine prints unlike any of the others I mention below you can barely hear the machine printing. The machine is easy to set up for use and comes with all the software needed to install on all operating systems except Windows 8. This machine is also MAC compatible which is nice as many are not MAC friendly. My purpose for purchasing this all in one verses any other is I have had Epson's, HP's and Lexmark's all in ones, all of which worked OK, however all were considerably noisy and all broke the bank when it came time to purchase ink for them. This machine prints fast, is exceptionally quiet and has not not broken the bank purchasing ink for it. While the machine is used primarily for business purposes therefore I am unable to comment on photo quality printing, however the printing that has been done that required color other than black has been of good quality. Overall I am extremely happy with this machine and because the machine is a Brother machine, I expect to get many years of trouble free service from the machine. This Brother all in one I must say has far exceeded my expectations. Would I recommend this machine to a friend or family member? I MOST CERTAINLY WILL recommend this machine to anyone that is looking to get exceptional performance at a price that will not break the bank.Read full review
First, let me say that personally I am a die-hard Epson fan! The printers I have purchased for myself, other family members, and work places/employers over the last 15 years have all been Epson! However, I had an opportunity to purchase this Brother MFC-295CN All-In-One Inkjet Printer at a really remarkable price and decided to give it a try. To my complete amazement this turned out to be a fantastic purchase! I was really amazed at the quality of the print and the noise! It is almost totally non-existent! In fact several times I got up to make sure it was printing because it was so quiet! There are a few cons I am working through, but, they are really just personal idiosyncrasies. I am used to a top paper feeder and the Brother has a paper tray that is located below where the paper is actually printed. Along with the “Beeps and Blip Blip” it makes to indicate a problem. But it will all work out. The fact I can get photo quality prints without going to a photo shop and printing up my prints it really great! After all is said and done, I have to say that I am very very happy with this purchase and if or when I have to purchase another printer, I will definitely give a good thought to another Brother printer. I would give this a 10 star rating!Read full review
I've been using printers since the old Apple printers in the early 1980. The brother printers are the best on the market. Oh ya there are bigger & more involved printers out there BUT for ease of use, quality of print & extra features, Brother takes the prize. I've had three now & go out of my way to buy this printer only! Even if it's used (like this one) & out of date; it's still the best for me!!!

The Brother MFC-295CN All-In-One InkJet Printer ~ Pros - * Easy to set up and use * Lots of set up options * Easy to program * Automatic document feeder * Conservative ink usage * Fast scanning and printing * Nice crisp copies and printing * Can make more than 1 copy at a time * Copies in color or black and white at the push of a button * Surprisingly quiet operation * Low desktop profile Cons ~ * Black isn't very black * Colors are not exact when copying from a book or magazine * Auto shut off has no disable option * Owner's manual is thorough but awkwardly organized * Software that comes with the printer * Lid hinges are loose and sloppy This is a great printer with regards to functionality, and other than the lid hinges has very good quality construction. HOWEVER, if you purchase this printer save yourself some heartache and opt not to install the software that comes with it. Install the drivers ONLY, otherwise you end up with proprietary spyware. The software is in constant communication with a third party company and is not necessary to run the printer.Read full review
I purchased this printer used because I had previously owned two Brother printers. The first one had networking ability like this one so I could easily use it with all my computers. My second one only worked USB. This model not only has the networking features of my prior printers it also prints better quality AND it prints faster. I was amazed to find that even purchasing this printer used with cartridges already installed that it worked fine despite the previous owners attempt to destroy it by shipping it without any protective packing materials. Just a cardboard box without newsprint, bubble wrap or syrofoam chips! Drivers are a ~50mb download from Brother (a far cry from the 500mb download with most all-in-one HP printers). I was also able to find refill printer cartridges for about $2/ea. The value is amazing.Read full review
