    Not in original box.

    This is not in an original Tri-ang AL1 box. I bought the original Tri-ang AL1 with twin pantographs in electric blue livery with white roof and cab roof and surrounds. By 1967 the box had mutated into a thin card version, with pull-out end flaps, branded "Tri-ang Hornby", with the AL1 wrapped in yellow foam. Even before the AL1 here the box had mutated again into the window version. The thick cardboard box illustrated iis a much earlier one that doesn't belong to any lAL1, much less the later-liveried version here. The illustrated thick cardboard box with slide-off lid pre-dated all Tri-ang AL1s and is from the earlier 1960's.
