Presented in a special widescreen version on 2 VHS tapes, "Woodstock, The Director's Cut" is the most perfect example of of documentary filmmaking ever achieved by any one person; in this case, it's director Michael Wadleigh, who helmed a sensational time capsule of the event that shaped a generation and changed the way a rock music event happens. Taking place over the course of 3 days on the grounds of a dairy farm in New York during the summer of 1969, this classic event turned out to be a showcase for some of the top-notch musical giants of the era. Crosby, Stills & Nash, Canned Heat, Ritchie Havens, Joan Baez, The Who, Sha-Na-Na, Joe Cocker & The Grease Band, Country Joe McDonald & The Fish, Arlo Guthrie, Ten Years After, Jefferson Airplane, John Sebastian, Santana, Sly & The Family ... Overall, the entire film is an excellent moment in time, perfectly documented for all generations. The film closes with the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young version of the song "Woodstock". Winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature of 1970, it is a spectacular cineamtic effort that broke new ground in the way that documentaries are filmed and produced.

If I had 3 wishes. One of those wishes would be to go to Woodstock and jump in the mudd bog. This item helps bring that dream closer and helps me understand the true roots of Rock-n-Roll history. I also find it resourcefull when searching for vintage music memorabilia trading cards. It takes me back in time to meet the groups that are often pictured in the cards I collect.
