Brought tears to my eyes, but it is teen romance at its finest.
After reading the book, I had to see the movie. It's about the out-of-body experience of Mia Hall, who lies in a hospital bed in a coma after a tragic accident claims the lives of her family. She is told by the nurse at the hospital that it is all up to her whether or not she lives or dies. The story alternates between her life before the accident and her life in the coma at the hospital, where she sees all and hears everything that is said. Through her back story, we learn that she is a cellist and has auditioned for a prestigious scholarship to Julliard. We learn that she is in love with handsome Adam Wilde, the leader in a local rock band. We learn that they both realize that if she gets the scholarship, they will lose each other. We learn that Adam loves her so much that he does ... After reading the book, I had to see the movie.
