    GREAT MOVIE

Excellent movie historically accurate.... Makes you think how close we are to another Civil War based on today's events with stolen elections And socialism.... Highly recommend seeing actual sub in Charleston.. Armand assante is underrated Actor much better than The George Clooney's and Robert De Niro's that are always the same character in every movie... Excellent movie highly recommend....

  • The Hunley - highly viewable American maritime and civil war history

It wasn't until I visited Charleston a few months ago that I became interested in the Hunley and its history. I had heard of it but couldn't really imagine what a civil-war era submarine could possibly be capable of. I was in for a surprise, but it was still hard for me to visualize. That's where this movie filled in the gaps. This movie was historically faithful to the Hunley, Charleston and the war; its theory about the cause of the Hunley's demise jives with the most currently prevalent premise. It was well-acted and fast-moving, even having its small moments of comic relief. The ending was necessarily speculative; I also appreciated the attempt to put the viewer at peace about the lives of the submariners who were lost.

  • Fantastic

Wonderful made-for-tv movie of a true incident I didn't know occurred before I researched the movie. I was only aware of the fight between the Monitor and the Merrimac. You really grow to care for and empathize with the characters. How Charleston withstood over a year of Union shelling is hard to believe. They recently took down the statue of P.G.T. Beauregard here in New Orleans, along with that of Robert E. Lee. I have made plans to visit the Beauregard-Keyes Mansion here, a popular tourist site.

  • Warfare beneath the waters, a lost cause above their heads.

DVD exceeded expectations. An excellent Civil War drama in the same vein as Gettysburg, Andersonville, and Glory.

  • The CSS Hunleyβ€”-First successful submarine

Great movie that tells a great story of the first submarine in history that successfully sank an enemy vessel. Was unbelievable all the trials and tribulations that were experienced before achieving success.
