The calendars were exactly as described, new. This seller could not have prepared them any better for shipping. They were wrapped in plastic and had more than one wrapping of cardboard around them. Then placed in an clasp envelope and taped. Marked "Do Not Bend." I will definitely order a calendar from him next year. 5 star seller.

great mini series
very good mini series about a true story in Georgia, Andy Griffith plays the bad guy, Johnny Cash plays the no nonsense sheriff that always gets his man. June Carter Cash plays the physic witch woman that helps the sheriff. I never get tired of watching the 80's mini series, they are the best!

This was a made for TV movie starring Andy Griffith as a ruthless land baron in Merriwether County, Georgia, named John Wallace. Everybody just called him "The King". It was the late 1940's and being the richest man in the county, or maybe even that whole part of the state, he had the money and power to control everything, and the lives of everybody else. The County Sheriff and the rest of the police and local politicians are all in his pocket, just like so many nickels and dimes. Whatever he wants to do; whatever he does, is OK. After all, he is the King. Wallace decides to kick a tenant farmer off his property. Problem is, he has planted and worked the property all year and it is now time for harvest, but Wallace says he has to go NOW. Wallace has total control of all farm and ... When the police release him, Wallace has his men waiting. He has already all but drained his gas tank, and when they chase him he runs out of gas, just across the Coweta County line. Wallace murders him to send a message to everybody else, but there were witnesses. The tenant farmer's body is dumped into an abandoned well for disposal. The sheriff of Coweta County is called and the story of what was seen is relayed to him. He is Sheriff Lamar Potts (Johnny Cash). Cash does a good job as Sheriff Potts, and is most convincing as the no-nonsense lawman. As Potts investigates the murder, he quickly realizes that he is pursuing a ruthless and most dangerous man who thinks that he can say or do anything he wants with complete immunity. Sensing danger from Potts, Wallace has the farmer's body recovered and completely burned to ashes. The well contained evidence but no body, and without a body, there could be no conviction, even with witnesses. Sheriff Potts was just like a bulldog with a hold on a bone though. He kept Wallace in jail and eventually caught up with the black men who were ordered to dig the hole and burn the body. When one of them showed Sheriff Potts where the body had been burned he began searching the area. The ashes from the pit had all been scooped out and dumped into the river, all but a few bone fragments! Sheriff Potts made a deal with these men to testify that this was in fact the remains of the murdered farmer. Wallace always thought that he was untouchable, and even after being convicted, was sure that he would never be executed.

A must-see movie where good catches up with evil.
This movie doesn't take long to become interesting. A down to earth lawman, (played by Johnny Cash), tracks down a land baron who thinks he is above the law, (played by Andy Griffith). Both of these actors seemed to stay away from the men we all have learn to love in their other professions and character. This movie was partially filmed on location in my hometown. As a matter of fact, I believe the entire movie was filmed in surrounding areas of west central Georgia. I'm sure you will enjoy this movie.This movie doesn't take long to become interesting. I really enjoyed this movie I don't remember seeing it when it came out back in the '70s OR '80s but it was really good I enjoyed it very much the characters were great of course you got Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash how can you go wrong and the price was great on it everything was good I got it in a quick period of time and have enjoyed it a couple of times now so everything's great I love it

Great story, with two old-favorite stars.
I bought this movie on spec several years ago and it became one of my very few favorites. Then I loaned it out and it never came back. It is such a GREAT movie that I just *HAD* to replace it. I cannot imagine any buyer being less than delighted with this movie.
