First, this game has a pretty basic/somewhat cliche revenge story, I did not expect it to be present day setting with all the mystical elements. It adds something nice to it. The game is somewhat a combo of God of War and Soul Caliber. You mash the square button a lot and sometimes you have to utilize a few special powers but besides that, I beat it on hard the first time with no help or walkthroughs. Very fun but puzzles are wayy easy compared to other games of it's kind. It has some of it's own elements that make it lots of fun. If you liked God of War I & II, then this is right up your alley! You get a horse, more powers than most hack and slash, although you will find that fighting the cheap way makes things a lot easier, i.e. powers and Chaos mode, which turns you into a huge flaming beast that owns everything, use it wisely. Basically, it's Heaven against Hell, and you are one of four Horsemen/ "Enforcers" that keeps the balance and truce. You have been summoned for some unknown reason after many years and you are all alone, without your other 3 comrades. The game seems to be pretty long and it's nice not to beat a game in 10+ hours on normal or hard. I advise renting it first... to make sure you really wanna drop $50, or wait a few months until it's cheaper, worth the wait IMHO. Nothing amazing, but a solid game all together. 8.9/10 starsRead full review
I'd hate to date myself by saying this, but the last game I've played an action/adventure game, was prince of persia and the sands of time. I hated it, to be honest, these kinds of games just never really held a big place in my heart. I will say though, that after playing darksiders, my mind has not been changed at all, BUT, it is interesting enough to keep me wanting to play. I suppose if you like assassins creed, or anything like that, this will be right up your alley. I'm about half way through, and I have to say the story line is what keeps me playing. I'm sure anybody that's into the whole heaven/hell/futuristic/magic type of story, will love this game, if they haven't already played it. After having lost my save data and having to start over, the replay value is pretty strong as well. To be honest, I'm kind of ashamed that I hadn't gotten this game sooner.Read full review
It's this level of polish and creative assuredness that really make Darksiders such a delight in the end. It's bold and recklessly inventive in ways that games rarely are these days, and virtually every aspect of Darksiders shines with quality, making for an experience that, while not exactly original, still feels fresh, satisfying and, above all else, . It's far from the soulless fighter THQ's marketing would have you believe and the deft mix of combat, platforming and puzzle-solving makes for an action adventure that genuinely does feel like an epic endeavour. It's a genre too few developers try their hand at these days and one that's rarely done well. Despite some flaws, Darksiders is an expertly designed, frequently dazzling spectacle - and if it really is the first in a series as Vigil suggests, we're genuinely looking forward to seeing more. 9.0 Presentation Great sense of style, cool chunky characters, nicely framed cutscenes, boils down information/collectables well in the pause menus. 9.0 Graphics Far better use of colour than most games with grim settings like this. Well-realised, varied environments. Occasionally walking animations look cumbersome, but generally the animations are excellent. 8.5 Sound Good voice acting for the most part... although the guy who plays War chews the scenery a bit too much at times. Excellent score. 8.5 Gameplay Amazing how well this comes together considering how many mechanics and different control combinations are packed in. A little easy... and a few clumsy sequences, but great overall. 8.0 Lasting Appeal No multiplayer, but this is a pretty decent length single player game. 9.0 Outstanding OVERALL This game is available for sale in my eBay store at a good price: http://mariio128.comRead full review
Darksiders has a wide variety of weapons and actions during the gameplay mode and i really really enjoyed it. I liked the plot since there is a conspiracy against forces of good so that evil would prevail and the point of view that WAR is a "bad" character that works autonomously and chooses to do good deeds or bad ones is amazing. The weapon arsenal is so vast that you will never feel that you are fighting bear hands and along with the abilities you gain along your quest it becomes even more interesting. The only negative thing about it is that some treasures can only be gained later on in the game after you develop some special abilities but by the time you do, you forget where they were exactly. Another amazing feature is the graphics work done, they are really good and you enjoy both the game and the cinematics. The enemies are quite intelligent and since there is a big variety of enemies as well you never get tired of fighting even if it seems that it is the only thing you do in some parts of the game. Overall the game is AMAZING and i will played again once more.I strongly suggest the purchase of it and you will not regret it,i surely didn't!Read full review

Loving this game! Its parallel with God of war, not quite as good graphics as GOW3, storyline is pretty good, weapons are cool, gameplay is nearly identical. Facebook had a popup add recommending it according to the fact that I like GOW and the game had alot of good reviews, very happy with my purchase it is now my new game of the week(or two). Dislike there are some parts where it seems to stop for a frame or two, like the ps3 can't keep up with it or something, other than that its a really fun game.
The graphics while good are a little cartoony looking. Character voices are done very nicely. Combat system can take some getting used to in places, but overall it's pretty decent. The storyline so far seems to be good (haven't played all the way through yet) and very well thought out. All in all, if you like GoW (God of War) or similar games you're going to be satisfied with Darksiders.
First of all, if you are a "God of War" fan and that style of action adventure game play, you will love Darksiders. The graphics, art direction, and cinematic sequences are striking. The moves, weapons, and various combinations are fairly easy to learn and use throughout the game. The game has a map and is straight forward in play direction. I have been impressed and the game seems long enough to be a good value. I am enjoying it and would consider it one of the best games ever produced for the PS3. Enjoy!
Been hearing how good the game was..it was good to experience that in person! Definitely worth the purchase!

What is Darksiders? Think God of War meets The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and you'll have a pretty good idea of what it's like. Though it's not as good as either of those games, when you're taking elements from some of the best around, you're doing something right, and Vigil Games built in plenty of gameplay systems that fans of those titles, particularly the Legend of Zelda, should find familiar and enjoyable. Darksiders plays smoothly, looks sharp, sounds great, and provides about 15 hours of single-player content. There's lots of gear to collect, weapons to upgrade, combos to learn, and special items to find. There's a range of enemy-rich environments, puzzle dungeons and reasons to backtrack. All seems to be in order for a standout gaming experience, but I felt a few elements of the game limit the range of its entertainment value. You play as War, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. His power is known and he's treated with a certain sliver of respect by even the most powerful of dungeon bosses. Sure people want to kill you because they falsely think you screwed up the balance between Heaven and Hell and blew up all of humanity in the process, but they're still a little apprehensive when confronting you. It's empowering to have supreme beings spout their standard death threats without forgetting to properly address you as a Horseman. They're angry and they're arrogant enough to fight you, but that doesn't mean they won't recognize your status.Read full review
