One of the most expensive games ever produced during at the time of its development, Shenmue is a thrilling 3D open world that takes players to the what Sega called a F.R.E.E.. (Fully Reactive Eyes Entertainment) style game. As the son of Iwao Hazuki son, Ryo, you have to set out and hit the streets to unravel the puzzles surrounding the death of your father. Players can walk around three areas including a harbor and the towns of Dobuita and Yokosuka. Converse with people on the streets with the push of a button, and go about the tasks of your daily life while looking for answers. Engage in martial arts battles and examine items as you search for possible leads to Iwo's death.

    A defining Dreamcast experience

    Shenmue is a game I've always been interested in, but finally being able to play it I can say it's an absolutely compelling adventure. If you need a game that shows you just what the Dreamcast was capable of when pushed to its limits, this is it. The game is admittedly a bit of a slow burn, but its structure and story keep this game in my mind whenever I'm not playing it. Real life becomes 'time spent not playing Shenmue', and that's the right kind of game an RPG should be. Highly recommended.

    The most compelling game experience.

    Instantly one of my favorites games I’ve played

    It’s unlike anything I’ve played before and definitely worth the money. With the compelling story that coincides with characters whom you become familiar with throughout the game it’s an instant favorite for me. Besides the terrible voice acting and somewhat clunky movement this game is great!
