Tama SMOOTH Cobras
Over the years I have owned and/or tried every pedal out there. Tama has always been my favorite and Ive been a loyal iron cobra guy for many years. I never got into heel toe method, which seems to be very popular nowadays with the long board pedals, but as a drummer who employs the slide method, heel down and the swivel method, these pedals still allow me more freedom than my short board Iron Cobras. These pedals are so responsive, it's ridiculous how light the boards feel and they are smooth even at high spring tension. There are multiple sweet spots along the footboard and it allows you to have total control over your dynamics. I highly recommend these pedals to ANY drummer, not just ones looking to play fast metal etc, these pedals are an extension of your foot and have allowed me to play whatever my brain comes up with. Tama speed cobra pedals destroy DW 9002's!!!
I bought this pedal as a backup since my DW 9002 double pedals' parts kept breaking here and there and this 2016 Tama speed cobra double pedals are a lot cheaper so I decided to keep these as a back up but as soon as I got them out the box they were the best feeling pedals under MY feet for my style of heel up playing. Amazing speed with amazing power combined is hard to come by. DW 9000 has a lot of different adjustments but I could never get that power throw feel I wanted but with these speed Cobras all I did was make a tiny spring tension adjustment and it's been the pedal I've always been looking for. A DREAM COME TRUE DOUBLE PEDAL
Finally I found the double pedal that both left and right pedals feel exactly the same. I can't believe how smooth this double pedal is. I feel like playing 2 single pedals. My old double pedal is the DW 5000. The left pedal feels nothing like the right. It is heavier and not as smooth. With the new Tama Speed Cobra, that has a lot of features, anything is possible!! Silky Smooth and FAST!
I've been playing drums a LONG time. I have a Pearl Eliminator and Demonator plus a DW 5000, all double pedals. This Speed Cobra is by far my favorite! Wish I would have discovered it sooner. Fast, solid, well balanced longboard pedals that play well.
This is a strong, solid pedal that doesn't wobble and is one of the very few pedals that I can personally play with heel-toe style in very fast, clean runs. I keep it loose and it feels very balanced. I can transfer from a Jojo pedal to these with no change in feel. I can play these faster as a single pedal than the Jojo pedal.
