Excellent sprinkler unit
Comparing to Rainbird 5000, they are essentially equal; quality, size, adjustable water flow and distance. I use both Rainbird 5000 and Hunter PGP equally and don’t prefer one over the other. The only fault With Hunter is the adjustment tool with its 3mm hex tool to adjust water flow and distance, as sometimes the hex tool end slips and strips the inside of the unit making any adjustment difficult. I then prefer to use my own 3mm hex tool which is more precise and exact fitting, and fits perfectly for any adjustments necessary. Outside of that, the sprinkler unit is excellent.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The Red Nozzle Hunter Sprinkler Has Less nozzle size (then the blue type) for System Balance
I purchased this item and thought it would be similar to the same Hunter sprinkler but has the blue nozzles. I found that the each nozzle size increases by 1 G/M for the red kind. The similar item with the blue nozzles increase by .5 G/M. My system does not have high water pressure, which means less pressure the slower the rotor rotates and less coverage. Having the blue nozzles allows for a much better means of maintaining a constant pressure high enough to allow the heads to rotate at a greater speed. That;s my experience...the blue nozzle sprinkler worked better. If I had more water pressure to work with, I am sure the red nozzle style would have work ok as well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

good for all grass, but not for near driveways cause they will leak alot
Get rainbirds for near driveways, walkways, cause they will leak less on to the pavement. For all grass pgp's are cheaper and they will work for all grass, cause the little bit of leakage isn't really that noticeable. However, rainbirds are superior. You are able to put a 3/4 inch thread rainbird into a 3/4 inch old hunter pgp thread.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
