    Pleasantly surprised

I work as a general contractor and I’ve had problems with clients not being able to get shrubs and bushes trimmed so I bought this to help them out and I’m shocked at how well it cuts through bushes shrubs and how long the battery lasts it cut through arborvitae‘s 40’X15’with no problem and on one small battery with power to spare I would highly recommend this trimmer

    Not a great trimmer

As others have stated the head is not very secure and it is heavy...but it is affordable IF you already have other 20V DeWalt tool (as I do). I have owned gas trimmers in the past and this DeWalt 20v battery trimmer does not have the same power. It struggles with 1/2" hedge "branches". Cutting bar action very slow compared to a gas trimmer. If you are using occasionally - as I am, it is just OK. I will not return it but I don't think I'd buy it again given the opportunity. I'm disappointed with how it performs.

  • Very useful, powerful

The extended length made my very tall hedges and arborvitaes a breeze. The sharpened tooth side of the blade made even the thicker branches an ease to cut. I sold my professional ECHO hedge trimmers and replaced them with these. I'm no longer doing landscaping for other folks and these DeWalt extended hedge trimmers are still more than capable of getting the job done. Even with a 4ah battery, it only took 2 batteries for clearing a 90 foot long swath of 15 foot tall Japanese Holly hybrids. You could not see the neighbors house before the job began.....

  • DeWalt Hedge Trimmer not built correctly.

The trimmer head of this tool is mounted on a rotating hub. This piece does NOT hold the head of the edger straight and it flops over easily. It is not solid and makes if virtually impossible to trim in a straight line or to keep the cut level. Please know that this is not the seller's fault but is a defect in the manufacture of the tool. It is the first and only DeWalt tool I have ever been disappointed in!

  • Great Product If You Have the Stamina

The Pole Hedge Trimmer is a very good specialty tool for hard-to-reach shrubbery. The extension angle adjustments are perfect for a variety of preferences. The cons: The overall weight of the product is noticeable mostly due to the heavy cutting head. The center of gravity is not helpful and puts a heavy strain on one's forward shoulder. The strap is absolutely useless because of its location. It makes the front shoulder strain worse because all the weight is thrown forward. Shoulder fatigue is a limiting factor. This is a light duty trimmer that requires the same amount of strain and energy as my gas-powered trimmer. However, its strength is its ability to trim bushes without a ladder. Just take plenty of ibuprophen afterwards.

  • Well worth the money, will save you time trimming shrubs.

Definitely well worth the money! Cut my hemlock shrub trimming work time in half. Always dreaded the job but no more. I used to have to cut shrubs from ladder which not only made it dangerous, but very time consuming. Not anymore! Another quality tool from Dewalt.

  • Work Horse!

Pro's: Battery life is great! Tool has a good weight, easy to handle. Quite a work horse! Con's: When locked in the center/straight position the trimmer doesn't lock in well. The tool has play/looseness in it when in that position. Seems to tighten up further off center you go.

  • Plenty of power & a good value.

Just used it to trim trees in my back yard. works great & was surprised at the power & how long the battery lasted (longer than I did!). A little but I was expecting that since the extension is so long, makes it nice when I need to reach a high limb.

  • Nice machine for the money and saves a lot of climbing up and down ladders!

My favorite thing about this trimmer is that its efficient on lightweight vines and saves me from climbing up and down the ladder. There is wobble on the shaft where the flex point is, but you don't notice it while using it much. The machine is a bit heavy and will make your arms ache, but worth tolerating the weight due to the great trim job it does. Accepts small or large 20v battery packs, and lasts just fine on the run time. Id give it a B in engineering design , but it a real time saver!

  • Bad design, the head is too heavy

I really like Dewalt products but this design is not good. in an effort to make it easy to use some of their parts in dual ways Dewalt has designed many of their new tools with the motor on the head of the tool which makes the tool head very heavy. It limits control and makes this tool hard to use for long as it is too heavy at the head.
