My '72 had very microphonic original pickups and were very low output I had one 57 in another guitar and a 65 in yet another, both in neck positions. I split the difference for my old Strat. I used the original mounting screws and pickup covers. It also needed a new output jack and a new pickup switch. I replaced them all and now it is almost like a new guitar....these pickups sound like a new Fullerton Strat. It sounds fantastic and I am very happy.

I bought these to replace the stock pups in my MIM strat. I was hoping for a higher quality sound experience. There was not a significant difference although they did sound better, I just couldn’t get past the 60 cycle hum. I new there would be some hum on the single coil design but these were too much for my taste. Even in my in home studio with very little interference. IMO get Fender noiseless or humbucking like DiMarzio’s or Duncans. They were of nice quality and workmanship and looked great so no complaints there. Just my personal opinion.

Having access to several vintage strats, including ,61’,56’,68’ and a 63’ previously owned by EJ. these pickups, while hotter than originals, have that tone! if you are into old strats, you will need at least one guitar with these pickups. Every cool old song from SRV, Clapton( Journeyman Years) to Hendrix you’ve ever heard these pickups will make, I’m buying another set because a friend with 30+ years gigging, had to have mine!

I received my 1963 strat without all it's original parts. Great guitar, but the custom shop Texas Special pickups just weren't doing it for me. Bought these on a super deal from "Crazy" Dave, and I'm glad I did. Now the instrument sounds like a Stratocaster should, What people don't seem to understand is that Leo got this right the first time. One cautionary note: Back in '63 Fenders were shipped with wound 3rd string sets. The pickups were designed for that specifically. So expect to hear your plain 3rd string a bit hotter than the rest. Want perfection? Play Piano.

I like these pickups a lot. These are vintage wound, low output pickups. I believe these are the lowest output pickups Fender makes. The broad frequency response and overall sweetness of these pickups makes a strat even more strat-ee. Perfect for me.
