works simply and very well.....push solvent / paper wad through to clean out major detritus; then pull the snake through ( with some oil soaked in) just once and your left with beautiful clean bores with no scrubbing required. Does require a good strong heave to get it through. Drop the weight through the barrel, wrap the string round your foot/shoe and pull the barrel up so the snake is pulled through the length of the barrel. Really simple, easy, quick and does a really good job. Only question will be if the connection between the string and the main snake can last over time as it takes quite a load when being pulled through.... But overall - great piece of kit at a really good price..

There would appear to be different schools of thought on this type of bore cleaner. I have a good gun cleaning kit which I still use, however I thought I'd give this a try and it is robust and quite thick so appears do give the barrel a good scrub through - as it is quite thick you need really to wrap the leader round a screwdriver handle or similar to avoid the cord cutting into your hand as you have to pull quite hard to get it through the barrel. I pull it through a couple of times after spraying cleaner down the bore and letting it soak a bit which seems to get a fair amount of carbon etc. out then I give the barrel a quick spray with gun oil and pull it through again - to the eye the barrel looks as clean afterwards as if I'd used the jag etc. from my cleaning kit. Basically I use the bore snake after every shoot and then now and again when I have more time I will still use my cleaning kit. It appears to do the job - I'm happy with it and I'm fussy... also compared to similar ones in gun shops for about £20.00 I find it hard to see what difference they would have to justify being 4 times the price. Also the Seller got it out to me quickly so good all round.Read full review

have aberetta 391 semi auto which i have added a few custom bits to its a nice gun really suits me but one problem was that ithe forcing cone area would get very dirtywith lead and wad . tried many different carts and the only way to get it clean was scrub with wire wool wrapped around a brush, even my favourite eds red cleaner couldnt shift it all. so in desperation i got the boresnake and had the thought that if i used it as soon as i had finished shooting on a hot gun it might help, so tried it today and it took about 90% of the crud out at the ground, worked a treat . gave the barrel a light clean when i got home and thankds to the BORESNAKE

I have spend years cleaning shotguns with patches, solvents and phosphor bronze brushes. It has been expensive, messy and time consuming. With the bore snake dry, pull through each barrel twice immediately after shooting, and the barrels will be about 99% clean of burnt powder, plastic wad and lead deposits - amazing! When I get home, a quick clean of the chokes, choke threads and the breach with a bit of solvent and a patch to finish the job. Bore snake works for me.

This is excellent value for money - a fraction of the price of some branded makes. Also here's a tip for pulling it through the barrel- drop the weighted end through first then when the wedge starts to go through, stand on the string with your foot and just pull the barrel up. Saves heaving the string through with your fingers.
