“The Producers” is one of my favorite Broadway musical-comedies. It’s adapted by comic-genius Mel Brooks (“Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles”) who wrote and directed the original film in 1968 with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel as the lead characters, Max and Leo. Mel Brooks revised the script and adapted it into a Broadway musical in 2001 with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick as the leads. Everyone in the cast reprised their roles for the film version of the musical with the exception of two: Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman. The original motion picture soundtrack isn’t much different from the 2001 original cast recording. Overall, it’s an excellent addition if you’re interested in listening to show tunes, and plus you‘ll be able to hear Will Ferrell sing “Der Guten Tag Hop-Clap” and Uma Thurman sing “When You Got It, Flaunt It”. I initially bought it for my friend as a birthday present, but I’ve been listening to it ever since I bought it! One BRAND NEW SONG is added called “There’s Nothing Like a Show on Broadway”. I suggest listening to a sample of “We Can Do It,” “I Wanna Be a Producer,” or “Betrayed” before picking it up, although I'm sure you won't be disappointed! === TRACK INFORMATION === Overture Opening Night We Can Do It I Wanna Be a Producer Der Guten Tag Hop-Clap Keep It Gay When You Got It, Flaunt It Along Came Bialy That Face Haben Sie Gehort Das Deutshe Band? This soundtrack is way too much fun! Everyone did such a great job! It was a little over the top but I enjoyed the ride! Very cool to see what Will Ferrel did with his part! He totally became that person! I heard that when he was on the set and not on camera, he would still wear the German helmet. Like I said, fun soundtrack, you just gotta sing along!
Love it- good tunes, witty words and great price. Using it to prepare for an audition early 2011, Mel Brooks writing is very funny. Matthew Broderick's voice is underwhelming, but the enthusiasm of the entire cast makes this recording well worth owning.
this bit of media deals with the ironies of theatre and the absurdity of the nazis, remember there are two types of aryans, non-aryans and barb-aryans
